Sunday Mail saying we are tracking a midfielder

Unless they’re counting Mitchell as a left midfielder I’d be surprised at that. Would have to be someone really good to start shunting those already on the fringes (Bozanic, Edwards, Djoum, Cochrane) further down the pecking order. Did notice Darren Fletcher was an unused sub for Stoke yesterday. ?

So the Sunday Mail is saying 4 players incoming including Mitchell. I reckon we must know at least two players are leaving (I am guessing Callachan and Amankwaa.)

Would be our most successful transfer window in a long time.

Also loving that conventional wisdom suggests bringing 14 players (at time of writing) in a transfer window, losing your top scorer from last season after a long protracted transfer affair means your team will take a while to get up and running, but we have done the complete opposite. I would even argue the players we sign this week, if not match fit, we doing well enough at the moment and have enough cover that we can give them time to get fitness with needing to throw them in.

Can’t underestimate the importance of Levein getting most of the signings done before pre-season training started. Has really helped players gel and become a team ??

If it's true, and it all works out, then without getting too carried away, that would give us a squad that could really go far this season.

A Cup Final appearance and a strong league challenge would be grand.

What a turnaround From this time last yr.

Everybody Loves Baz!

Can't believe we're gonna have uche, this guy, and possibly Sow with McLean to have as forwards.

Salivating.

The league cup games against lower opponents certainly helps when you have a large turnover of players aswell as it’s competitive football and gives the players time to gel before starting against better quality in the league

This - credit due to Mr Levein and team for putting in the graft when the rest of us were sitting in the beer garden watching the World Cup.

Also means that any potential signings still to come in are joining a buoyant, winning dressing room which can only be a good thing.

There might just be something in that.

Sporting went into meltdown last season. Ultras came into the training ground and abused / attacked the players, a lot of whom cancelled their contracts and left.

Unlikey, but just maybe..

Driving home today I was behind a car with the number plate AHU 7707.

Most likely be pure coincidence of course, we don’t need another right back.

Alan Hutton has been a regular player for Aston villa so far this season.

I wonder if/when Mitchell comes in, where will we play him?

I always thought he was better going forward than he was defensively. But with Garuccio doing so well at LB, will Mitchell play in midfield?

Waiting for the marquee signing to get a mention aswell ?

Assume that’s not going to happen as with 4 full days now left of the window you would’ve thought there was at least a sniff of it. Unless there has been and no one has thought it was marquee.
