Why would it have to be the best Oasis song to be a good anthem?

Valid point, always just found it a bit of a dirge, the Oasis equivalent of our very own national anthem.

Sheiky Baby

I was always under the impression ol' hector nicol was a hibby. Non?

Certainly my old man had a 45 (or whatever they had before someone discovered MP3s) with Nicol's version of the hearts song on one side and Glory Glory on the other, with the offending side having been scratched to ****. He always told me Nicol was a hibby. But some folk will sing songs that they dislike purely to keep people happy.

Populist pish if you ask me and indicative of a lack of artistic integrity.

Hector is my Grandad and can confirm he was a Midden fan unfortunately

Still the best fitbaw song ever written though :verysmug:

Obviously the Hearts anthem is the main anthem, and the European song works really well during the match (possibly biased but I think its one of the best songs sung in Scottish football.) I know people cringe whenever this is said but would like our support to have more volume and more banners.
I don't think anyone cringes about that, it's true.

My dad knew Hector well - said he was a top bloke, great performer and despite the showbiz image only drank tea when he was performing.

Republica's Ready to Go is a dreadful song, done to death by a thousand corporate companies celebrating their yearly results in some middling hotel's conference suite.

FFS, why not HEARTS songs?

If anyone is more interested in singing non Hearts related songs, I would point them in the direction of Easter Road. I hear they do a mighty fine Sunshine on Leith.

we should being singing the Hearts or the European song, if not my choice would be Oasis (or Slade) - Come On Feel The Noise, good memories of singing that before the SC Final in 96 (don't remember much about the rest of the day though)

Jeez, is this dreadful thread still going...

Although each new ironic you tube 'anthem' posted is just more hilarious than the last....oh my sides.

You people are such cards.

Jokes are funnier the more they are repeated, over and over....

Its an interesting one having a new anthem. Wonderwall though is the complete wrong choice for a football anthem.

Look at most anthems the football fans sing, most are not fast paced, they are simple to sing and allow you to belt it out.

I think we already have the chance to make Hey Jude are anthem, but we need to start it from the beginning with the crowd singing. Then when it gets to the bit that always gets played we could start the twirly with the scarfs just before the fans run out. If we got most of the crowd singing and enough doing the twirly it would look good and sound great.

Obviously the Hearts anthem is the main anthem, and the European song works really well during the match (possibly biased but I think its one of the best songs sung in Scottish football.) I know people cringe whenever this is said but would like our support to have more volume and more banners.

As a sidenote on a sort of Hearts related note, here is FC Koln's anthem, and one of the players in the video is Kevin McKenna.

The flag behind them, with the animal emblem, is it a masonic type thing?
