A lot has been said on other threads about the need to beat the 'old firm' to reach a higher level

Only 5 away wins out of 67 (or 6 out of 70 if you count 'neutral' games as away).

Only 2 away wins with Hearts

I know you stated alot has been made about beating the old firm, Seen on threads that we need to beat them in Glasgow - which is the stats you provided.

However any chance of the Home stats also?

Just interested in the ratio on his home and away record.

Rangers & Celtic are better than us.

I dont need stats to prove that.

When we become better than Rangers & Celtic we will have a much better chance of beating them on their own patch.

Becoming the best team in Scotland should be our goal.

We could beat the OF every game home and away but still struggle to match their consistency. Cash is king unfortunately, unless we can spend the same on players and wages every year, it's always going to be an uphill battle.

Re the thread topic, over the last decade, the uglies have probably lost very few home games, i doubt our record against them will be any different to other teamsrolleyes.gif

Its in the tables above mate, but to answer your question, he's beaten the OF a total of 11 times as Hearts manager in 58 games against them. 8 at home, 2 away and 1 at a neutral venue

IMO the one at the neutral venue more than compensates for his otherwise pretty poor record.

Though if he did not have such a 'staggeringly poor record', we would be lauding him as Double Winner in 97/98... :whistling:

I suppose one out of two isnt bad though.

I removed the word staggeringly from my post. 11 out of 58 is just poor, not staggeringly poor as I first typed

If he'd won the double in 97/98 I'd be be happy to let him put out a team of 10 year old girls against the Old firm for the rest of his career (Ive seen games were the result wouldnt have been much different anyway)

We need our fanbase to improve. But it's about time someone fecking said it.

I know HUNDREDS of armchair supporter and I know the only way to get them here is by investing in the team. (A bit like 05-06 but over a space of 3-4 years. ) I absolutely guarantee that we would get around 30,000 into Tynie we would obviously need to expand the stadium or dare I say it Move! It's the only way forward.

Jim Jefferies has probably managed for the longest time period of any modern SPL manager during the era of greatest Old Firm dominance over the rest of the teams so it's probably not surprising his record is what it is - has any other manager even managed more than half the amount of games v the OF that JJ has? If so how does their record compare?

You don't need to go that far. See the Niall Quinn thread.

Just lower prices right down, bring back standing and let us drink again.

Whether he has managed us in 50, 100 or 200 games against the Old Firm, the odds stacked up against us will always be long in EVERY game v the Old Firm.

Rememeber too the players we had to face in his first spell; guys like Di Canio, Larsson, Albertz, Laudrup, Gascoigne.

As Killie manager, he fielded guys on just a few hundred pound a weeks versus guys on thousands.

Frankly, Jim Jefferies should be judged on his ability to stay in the game.

It might be pertinent to note that when these factors were in place SCOTLAND set all the still-current European-wide OFFICIAL record attendance levels for football matches (International, Cup Final, League-match, European-match, midweek-match etc)
