In 23 seasons from 83-84 in which both teams were in the top division, Hearts have come finished higher than Hibs 18 times, Hibs finishing above us just 5 times. Our average finishing place is 4.17. Hibs average finishing place is 6.5. Hearts have never finished lower than 7th (twice). Hibs lowest is 10th (relegation once, play-offs once). Hearts highest finishes are 2nd (four times) and 3rd (five times). Hibs have never seriously been in contention for the league title, their highest finish being 3rd (three times).
