Don't shoot the messenger but apparently this lad is training with Hearts today. (replacement for Lee?)

Anyone know much about him?

Think he is a free agent after being released by Cardiff in the summer.

Just posted that on the LW thread

I seem to remember signing him quite a lot on an old Football Manager.

All I know is he's a left back so would make sense to look at him, free transfer, experienced in the Championship. Could do a lot worse.

Think he used to play for Plymouth as well and has some caps for Northern Ireland. Seem to remember him playing against England.

I just got told this by an unreliable fud on facebook, but if other people have heard then there might be something in it.

He's 29 and had an eventful summer by the look of it. Plymouth and Palace both wanted him.

He's a free agent so why haven't they signed him? Assume if there's any truth in the story then he'll be on trial with a view to a short term contract? who knows he could be another Andy Thorne or he could be another Leigh Jenkinson.

Hope he's not on trial. If he's any good then we should be playing him at the weekend IMO. We already look weak at the back

Charlie, why do you seriously feel the need to piss all over every bit of gossip on here? It's a real downer.

Wiki says he's a left back or left winger. And he's a long throw specialist

It also says that he was born in Telemark in Norway and that he is Plymouth Argyle's most capped player of all time.

So there

Jefferies saying in todays EEN thet's he's looking at free agent left backs http://www.scotsman.com/heartofmidlothianfc/Hearts-boss-on-the-hunt.6521970.jp

Apologies for not getting overly excited about this possible signing. :)

He can't be all that bad then. Should add a bit of experience aswell.

I'm just glad (if we are interested in him) that we are looking to bring someone in to make up for Wallace being out instead of putting a central midfield player back there.

He also played for Cardiff in the 2008 FA Cup Final

Am beginning to wonder why this boy is a free agent.

If we can agree wages with him, he sounds like a decent short-term replacement for Lee

Sterling Archer

Red carded for foul and abusive language in his first match.

Nap.

Probably still less volatile and offensive than Michael Stewart.

He's a useful enough full back from the times I saw him playing for the bluebirds. Could be ideal for him and us.

It's not often I recommend championship players either.

To be fair, if the left backs JJ's having a look at were any good, then there's a strong chance they wouldn't be free agents

Hopefully the next Neil Pointon :-)

Apart from the very beginning and end of his career Neil Pointon played the best part of his career with clubs in the top flight of England and Scotland, with all due respect Capaldi has only played Championship & League One level in England and now despite some loans and trials finds himself without a club. If we do sign him then he might do as a stopgap measure until Lee Wallace returns but I don't really expect him to be another Neil Pointon.

Some are almost obsessed with looking at the negative side of things bud...a bad and prominent Hearts fan trait im afraid.

Don`t see any problem at all. Sometimes a certain move can reignite a player. Lets just sit and wait to see what happens.

We are talking the SPL here , we don't need Maldini

We can only sign players out of contract untill January so TC may get the gig untill then at least

Beggars can't be choosers and the lad will be wanting to play by now so it could be win - win for both parties

I'm surprised that it took to post 35 before someone pointed out the obvious.

I'm just glad JJ is looking to bring in a replacement. As going with Ruben,Eggert or Obua would have been ok for the odd game but not 6 months.Get an experienced player in and then hopefully start to blood a young lad later on in the games when we can.Have we got any good prospects at left back ?

Its nonsense that a free agent must be poor in standard. As it happens i dont think much of Capaldi but we shouldnt rule him out. We need an experienced left back on short term cover. He is an experience dleft back looking for any sort of contract. It makes sense. Stephane Mahe came and did a job for us when released and over 30. A player of that ilk would do a job.

I didn't say he was rubbish though did I, I stated that if players were any good then they wouldn't be free agents in the first place, there would be a demand for them, although I appreciate that with some players certain circumstances can lead to them becoming a free agent but more often than not it's because no one wants them as they're not good enough, or the player is asking for too much in terms of wage demands, but thanks for tarring me with the stereotypical JKB poster brush

Nothing wrong with taking him as short term cover for injuries and nobody is saying he won't be able to do a job but we shouldn't expect a player as good as Mahe or Pointon were when he's never played at the level they did that's all.

He played about 10 games for Cardiff last year and I watched a few pof them. He's one of the few men in football whose nose is bigger than his throw ins.

He's poo.

I wouldnt go looking for him to answer our left back problems, despite him playing at a higher level. Maybe alright on a free, but id hope he's playing for next to nowt!

If he was top notch he would be signed up by now

It will buy us time untill January and may be the solution untill Lee's speedy return to fitness , hopefully early in the new year
