269miles
On 5Live they've been banging on for the last couple of days about some EC directive which gives consumers greater protection than the usual 12 month guarantees offered by most manufacturers. There's been some interesting discussion and phone-ins from disgruntled punters. Has anyone actually used this successfully ? Jarhead
There is actually legal rights in place for repair/replacement/refund for up to 5 years on most goods depending on fair usage and lack of misuse. You have to think of the guarantee given by shops as a quible free period. They still have liability after 1 or 2 years but depend on most consumers not having the will to follow up their claim. It is also recommended to make all big purchases by credit card as you have further legal protection.
