bigwull22
Losing Alan McLaren to Rangers... Tosh Mckinlay to Celtic.... Mike Galloway to Celtic... Gary Naysmith to Everton... Neil McCann to Rangers.... Anti Niemi to Southampton... David Weir to Everton... Dave Mackay to Tottenham..... Colin Cameron to Wolves...... C'mon lads if we try hard enough we can figure out how to blame Romanov for that these ones also. No but you can blame the incumbent Board at the time. Martin_T
No but you can blame the incumbent Board at the time. Every single one of those clubs are a bigger club than Hearts, who pay a heck of a lot more than Hearts and play at a higher level than Hearts. We have always been and will always be a selling club. We have always been and will always be a selling club. Pretty much, Every club is a selling club to a certain extent. Never more so than now with the current economic climate. Clubs that can't pull in an average crowd of at least 25,000 at their stadiums even more so. Unfortunately we are firmly in that bracket.
Gregorski
Do I detect a lack of ambition there? My point exactly It's not a lack of ambition mate. It's just a straight economics. For now at least anyway.
Martin_T
Do I detect a lack of ambition there? My point exactly There has been far too much ambition at Hearts, hence the club is saddled with a ridiculous debt to this day, due to spending money we don't have. What HMFC need to do at the current time is concentrate on reducing the debt where possible so that eventually, when a bigger club comes in for one of our players, we'll able to negotiate a higher fee. If the club continued to be run in the way it was between 2005 and 2007 in particular, there would be no HMFC in 5 years time to moan about. True, sad but true, but should the replacement not already be at the club before we sell? Or are we just a cash cow?

Gregorski
True, sad but true, but should the replacement not already be at the club before we sell? Or are we just a cash cow? Good poiint. If we are a selling club then any player sales should be well anticipated in adveance thus giving us a chance to bring in replacements. A replacement for Berra has been talked about, we'll have to wait and see if he appears or not. We'll know by 5pm tomorrow I guess. It just shows Berra's remarkable improvment though when we are discussing the need to replace him immediately when only at the start of the season, calls for him to be stripped of the captaincy were very common. That's a great sign in my opinion and bodes well for the future.
