This is why we are sitting 3rd, and why we must win on Saturday.

Utd have found playing the old firm to be easier than promoted teams last season & this season, is that factual?

They have certainly found it 'easy' when playing us. I hope that changes on the 20th which is looking like a key game if we want to hold onto a UEFA spot pre Christmas.

These stats are difficult to follow as the top 6 teams varies week on week. However if you assume the better teams in the league are Gers, Celtic, Dundee Utd, Motherwell, Kilmarnock, Aberdeen and Hibs, we've managed one win thus far. However the time to really see will be January having played everyone twice, still 3rd in the league, well done Csaba things are improving, lose most of our games between now and the end of Janauary then nothing has changed since last season.

It's a surprising bit of data but it's hardly enough to base your conclusions on.

If it tells us anything it's liable to be of more interest to followers of the tangerine terrors of Tayside than ourselves because it's their team that appear to be exceptional in this respect.

Even then, The more interesting thing about Dundee United's form this season is that they seem to be dynamite at Tannadice (W5,D2, L1) but away from home they're rank (W1, D3, L3).

It`s all mumbo jumbo, no offence to OP though.

Hearts had a tremendous record against non OF teams in season 1997-98 but not that great against the OF.

I think we got a draw and a defeat off both at home and away but we sustained a good season.

I always believe the OF treat Hearts as a big game at Tynie therefore they actually raise their game that little bit more than normal.

The key is to try and take points at crucial times in the season. After 4 wins on the trot the rest of the SPL will be thinking Hearts are going to drop points this week and see it as a chance to close on us.

Getting a win this week would stick two fingers up at them.

There is no doubt provincial clubs, like Rangers, raise their game in the capital city.

Hearts were very similar under Levein for much of the time, really good home form but away form was often disappointing.
