RussG Posted October 6, 2008 Share Posted October 6, 2008 Ok I see there's scope for this thread receiving a lot of jokey responses given the current climate, but I was thinking seriously about this the other night. I was wondering if there's ever been a point in the club's history when a club motto has been official adopted and displayed prominently alongside the club crest, not so much on shirts (I'm pretty this have never happened) but maybe on headed paper or official club correspondance. I'm not counting PR intiatives like 'The Heart and Soul of Edinburgh', or recent buzzwords like 'Believe' or 'Together'. I'm thinking along more traditional lines i.e. Tottenham - audere est facere (to dare is to) Blackburn Rovers - Arte et labore (by skill and labour) Man City - Superbia in Proelia (pride in battle) Queens Park - ludere causa ludendi (to play for the sake of the game) They're not all latin... Rangers - Ready/Aye Ready (keech in my opinion) Millwall - We fear no foe Sadly most of these seem to have been dropped (at least from the club shirts) in recent years.
