Anybody done this and have advice?

I'm in Munich next weekend for my 40th birthday and I fancy taking in a Bayern game as they're at home next saturday. (might need a wee break from the beer festival!!!)

I was looking at their website to see if you could buy tickets online but there didn't seem to be any of the ticket bit in English.

Can you just rock up and get tickets on the day? Ticket prices look fairly reasonable.

I was in Munich a few weeks ago for a stag do. We went on the very impressive Alianz Arena tour. They told us that Bayern tickets are sold out for the entire season, therefore you should perhaps think about taking in a 1860 match instead. Either that or try and find tickets through unoffical channels.

Click the wee UJ/English thing on the top left/right.

http://fcbayern.viagogo.de/Sport-Tickets/Fussball/1-Bundesliga/FC-Bayern-Muenchen-Karten/E-138501

I used viagogo when I went. Buy them online today and pick them up at the stadium on the day. Tickets come up online all the time - they are put on by ST holders that don't need them. Just keep an eye and you should get 2 together if you are lucky. If not get them in the same section at the end behind the goal. It is terracing so you will get a bit together even though you will both get a 'seat area' that is locked up. (Sections 110 - 117 & sections 126 - 133 I think )

Good big bar in the ground as well to go to before, during and after the game. Locals are very friendly. Take a Jambo top and they will love you !!

Also when you go into the bar you can get a wee swipe card. Top it up with cash and for the rest of the day everything you buy is done with just a swipe - that includes the bevvy. :)

You can top it up whenever you want in the stadium.

Stadium is amazing. Especially from outside afterwards when the lights are on. Atmosphere tops. Both the ends sing back and forward to each other. Immense.

So you get to watch a top team in a top league for about ?10 whilst drinking quality bevvy and standing in terracing behind the goals...

Makes going to a game here ****ing depressing !!

Have fun - any more questions just ask.

I'm just guessing here but maybe it's like Spain or Italy where you can pretty much always get tickets on the day by renting someone's season book outside the ground.

I know a few people who've done this at various teams throughout Europe with no problems. Normally it means you'll be escorted by one of their group who administers the available season tickets and you'll have to sit with this person, but that just adds to the experience.

Seems I am an 'unofficial' channel. :P

You can get Bayern tickets easy. :)

PS - When I first checked 2 minutes ago there was one ticket. Now it is showing three. Changes constantly.

Just register online (Click on buy under a ticket and it instructs you to sign in or register) and then sit and wait until some appear in the cheap terracing. Best bit of the ground. :)

You cannot buy tickets at the stadium on match days....pre book and collect...at least that was last season.

Maybe worth a visit to official Bayern shops ( one in main train station...down one floor ) and one close to Hofbrahaus - they should be able to help.

Also if Nurnberg are at home it is only a ~ 75min train ride ( and more chance of a ticket )

I think I was at the same game as you last season, Wolfsberg, I remember reading it on here.

I too got tickets through Viagogo and picked them up on the day which is the official channel. Easy.

We were in the very front row of the top tier behind the goal and even Mrs casper who's not a footie fan enjoyed the day (which included a visit to the Hofbrauhaus afterwards).

I was indeed at the same game !! So was I8Hibsh. You are lucky you never bumped into him !!

Reckon you were directly above use. What a stadium eh...

Did you visit the bar in the ground and do the swipe card thing ? So easy buying beers with a swipe of a card. A little too easy actually....

As posted above, all tickets are sold out at the start of the season.

I went last december, got tickets through this link:

http://www.bundesligakarten.de

Best to get tickets for the standing section behind the goals. (This is allowed for league games only, if it's a Euro or International game it reverts to seating).

The website I used was very friendly and easy to use, you can get tickets for pretty much any game in the bundesleaga.

The stadium is best accesed by train from the city centre, it lies about 15Km's north of the city.

Hope this helps.

That site seems handy - but it is extortionate !!

From 79 Euros FFS !!!

You will get them on viagogo for 12.

Ha ha, I'm not sure I want to know! Nah My friend and her boyfriend who live in Munich are acting as tour guides so he's on his best behaviour.

On a different note the tickets for the 1860 match are only 10 euros - bargin, although they are in the German 2nd division or something, it's still a good price. This is for the standing area behind the goals - it'll be just like the terraces of old.

I thought that it was only low-alcohol beer :Icky: that is now sold in the stadium bars in Germany. If they're still serving the real stuff in the Bayern stadium, great, but I know at the Gottleib-Daimler Stadium in Stuttgart it's only the low-alcohol Nish that is on sale.

The site doesn't say:

I am pretty sure it was normal Pauliner. Maybe not though. I was bevvied anyway so probably wouldn't have noticed...!!

I was at the Allianz Arena last October - The beer on sale was definately NO alcohol.

I was in it last Monday for a 1860 match and it most certainly was alcoholic!

Had a ST for a year there, but then I speak German so it wasn't difficult. Also it was the year before they moved from the Olympiastadion to the Allianz Arena...As for availability it obviously depends who they are playing but it is usually possible. Not sure about Weis'n time though...

It's OK - it's safe to drink the beer (probably... if it's the same as for VfB games... depending on who's playing...)! From a mate in Stuttgart:

"In Stuttgart they sell regular beer in the stadium :-) Only in high-security games (vs Karlsruhe) not."

Brian Whittaker's Tache

I'm spewin this morning.

I booked my room thru hotelclub.com and for some reason the hotel wont honour the booking so theyve put me in alternative accomodation but I've had no confirmation of this thru yet!

Hotels in Munich now are rammed or through the roof expensive!

Might have been a bit premature looking at Bayern tickets

Should be OK I think. Even if the other hotel isn't in the city centre, or is in one of the towns nearby, you should still be able to get into the city and to the game. I haven't been to Munich, but the transport links are generally very good in Germany, so I don't think you'll have a big problem.

If it does prove to be a show-stopper, you could do a lot worse than try Stuttgart instead: it's only 2 hours away by train and there are loads of trains running. It's a good city as well, as you may well have already found out!

Good luck.

You get them from the Viagogo ?

Worth getting to the game a little early. Was a queue at the window you have to go to for your ticket. Was not happy. It is Germany afterall !!! I demand extreme efficiency !!

After getting them then why not head into the Pauliner bar for a few before the game. You can get a 'bevvy' card when you go in IIRC. Top it up and away you go.

Will have to get back there soon. Quality place.

Have fun.
