No he isn’t. This is a myth. He’s never a centre back in a month of Sundays. And on today’s performance he’s not a left back anymore either.

Did you watch any of last season or just todays game ?

In a game where we knew we would have the bulk of possession he drops Penrice ( good going forward and a decent cross) for Kingsley ??

watching him at the end trying to go down the outside was gut wrenching 😧

As said Kingsley isn’t a good left back

Forget the pyramids, forget the Bermuda Triangle, forget Area 51…the biggest mystery on Earth is why this guy lasted 91 minutes today.

Started off poorly and tailed off. First

few minutes Shanks put him through on goal with a delightful flick, Grant ran on and then sclaffed his cross into the first defender. We talk about the quality of our players but Ross county, Dundee Utd players would do more. It’s a fallacy that we have quality players

The fact that he started then stayed on the pitch while the likes of Forest were taken off suggests that Liam Fox knows the square root of feck all about football.

I've disliked Grant from the start.

Offers absolutely nothing and I was surprised he wasn't moved on in the summer.

I watched all of last season, and the season before that, and every season going back over 45 years. What’s your point? I expect a central defender to be able to do what Kent and Halkett (when fit) can, not be bullied and defend on the ground and in the air. Rowles can’t, and while I’ve been a fan of Kingsley his form has been particularly rotten this season, and he has never convinced me at all in the centre of defence.

Yep, was annoyed that Penrice was dropped today. He’s been one of our most consistent players and would’ve offered more of an attacking threat than Kingsley.

Grant should’ve been moved on last summer.

It's pretty galling for an attacking midfielder that he has actually played his best games for Hearts as a holding player where all he does is play the simple safe pass.Good at pens for if we ever get one though.

Grant is as much as a chocolate teapot if you want someone to actually make the team win, through crazy actions such as goals or assists.

Hopefully he is the sort of imposter that the Starlizard software sees straight through.

Penrice to me feels like he could end up being left side Michael Smith if he sticks around a few years. We’ll get a 6 or 7 match rating and consistently do just well enough that we think we should replace him but it’ll be tough to find a player clearly better than him week in and week out.

He had some good games at start of season.

Today was bad. Very bad. Need to see if one bad game or if Beni being back puts Grant back in a role he struggled in past few years.

100%... He was a mainstay of the Neilson meltdown and the same for Naismith's death spiral.

Remarkable he started ahead of Dhanda and remarkable he didn’t come off for Dhanda. I just don’t know what the management see in him, Vargas also, why start him ahead of McKay who is much better at home against the smaller teams. No faith at all in Fox now, we need someone in asap as the next few weeks are going to be even more dire if that is indeed possible! We are truly awful

A Grant performance being rated as good is usually code for the rest of the stunk the joint out.

Beni was superb today and doesn't need one of Devlin or Grant alongside him v Ross County at home, let alone both.

I’d be relieving Fox of his duties tonight for playing Grant. Abysmal football player who has no right to ever wear a Hearts shirt. Gobsmacked that Fox has been given this opportunity and picked him. Clueless.

100% Really should never, ever play for the first team ever again. Should never ever have played ever for Hearts in the first place and has never contributed anything and absolutely is part of the problem.  Him, McKay and Rowels are at the heart of this, utterly hopeless...IMO.

Don’t even know what he is. 6,8,10 or off the side? What’s his best position? He’s just not good enough.

Sat in same seat for years with my season ticket, next to same guys/families for years and dont usually hear these folk slaughter our own players, but Grant playing 92 mins today and changed that, absolute terrible player that should never wear maroon jersey again,

The nearly man. He nearly made a good pass, he nearly got that tackle in, he nearly controlled that difficult pass, he nearly got on the end of the through ball, he nearly caught up with the guy bursting a gut!!

You could count the number of meaningful games he’s had for us on one hand.

Well summed up and fits in with his didn’t role- didn’t make a forward pass - didn’t control the ball cleanly - didn’t win a header etc etc etc

One of the favourites unfortunately, should have been binned last season.

He one of the main reason we lack creativity in the midfield , meant to be an attacking midfielder , I don’t see what he brings

Pretends to close down players, if the opponents don't part with the ball he slows down or stops so he never gets close to winning the ball for us, another shat bag

Another who we are lumbered with on a long new deal, whose getting past his best, worse season by season as injuries catching up with him now. Seems to be that dressing room is toxic with cliques Ive been told with senior guys like boyce kent gordon mckay halkett kingsley shanks getting far to much say at the club and blaming the new guys when they have been to blame prob more and hes one of them. We need manager to give them a kick up arse get rid of the older  hasbeens, as like under bob and then naisy the  same core players have lots to answer for again.

You are being silly. Today was a standard performance from Grant. We do not often see any better from him. He is rotten and has consistently been so throughout his Hearts career. One good game at holding midfield against Rangers on the opening day doesn’t change that.

He has 5 poor games to every half decent one. January window should be an opportunity to move him and Boyce on. Hopefully, we can get another striker then if not before.

Not read any of the comments as I can't be ****ed. All I say is this is the biggest imposter to be bestowed upon this club in quite sometime. Absolutely fancies himself as a player yet his levels of athleticism as a so called attacking midfielder are absolutely laughable. What I particularly admire is repeatedly admire us post 30 mins each week where he adjusts his position from taking the ball off the back 3/4 and decides to move into areas where he's marked. He's an absolute ****ing imposter hiding in plain sight. His two performances at Hampden last season were disgusting and how he's been allowed to pollute the Neilson and Naismith capitulations and play 92 mins today just sums up all that's wrong at the club for me. Utter ****ing piss.

Atrocious first half and he was lucky that Fox is clearly inept and seeing what we all saw and he saw the second half, I thought he was better in second half.

Today he was terrible, up to this point he has been pretty good. I wonder if unexpectedly he found a fit as a holding midfielder and having Beni back and pushing him forward is reminding us of everything we were ready to ship off over the summer?

That's my take on it. Been doing ok deeper, so why he started ahead of Dhanda or Spittal in an advanced position is mind boggling. I mean how bad do those two look in training?

Just too casual in everything he does, a bit like Barrie McKay. You can see there is talent but just not any good in a team that isn’t performing as he won’t be the one to step up.

The first touch that led to the County goal was diabolical

See if we just went with a front 4 of Shanks,Vargas,Dhanda and McKay we would get on a lot better.

Benni and Devlin/Boateng can do the dirty work.

How he stayed on the pitch is beyond me, shows little bits of something now and again but nowhere near enough on a consistent level, such a meh player, dhanda should’ve started ahead of him, at least he can cross it.

Totally agree. How he managed to stay on the pitch until the 91st minute was actually just unfathomable. He was dreadful.

Dhanda only came on 67 minutes into the game. 🙈

Woeful today. Zero urgency as well. Dhanda and McKay both contributed more in less than a 1/3rd of the time on the pitch. Has to be the last start for him and move him on and we move on
