Hearts V Rangers Scottish cup semi final match day thread

There was lessons to learn from Rangers games v Ross County & Dundee recently, which culminated in the Rangers dropping 4 pts, did Naismith bother? High (hard) press obviously gave them troubles, but we endeavoured to offer them space & time, certainly in the first half and offered nothing up in the final third. Gutted and another chance missed, disappointed doesn’t quite cut it. Poor poor showing yet again Hearts.

Silva is the worst player I've seen in years. Since the hologram at least.

Scary to think of the money he has made from football.

Really don't know where some fans got their confidence from, going into this game!? We were never winning this, whether it be mental blocks, supposed game changing players never turning up for these events, refs giving the OF every decision going, etc. There is a reason we haven't beaten this mob at Hampden ever. We have been far from great this season, even during our wee run earlier this year. TBH, the bigger result was yesterday, we were never getting to the final let alone winning this Cup. The focus now is on securing 3rd asap.

Putting Tait on is awful management

Devlin was on a booking and was starting to pull out of tackles.

Tait has also performed really well when he's played, including beating Celtic.

He made a mistake today that has ultimately cost us, but Devlin needed to come off.

After that display, it's clear that we need a centre back who actually commands the box, a couple of midfielders who can actually pick a forward pass, and a striker upfront who can take the ball down and do something with it.

That was ****ing atrocious.  Once again, we have just laid down and let Rangers do what they want to us.

What really boils my piss is yesterday we seen a god awful Aberdeen team take Celtic (a far better team than Rangers) all the way. Really no wonder we struggled to shift tickets.

We need about 7 new players for next season

Very very mediocre Hearts side. Just need to look at our goals for the season to see that. An entire new midfield is required.

Dhanda and Spittal won't bridge that gap next season.

Dhanda ran the show against them last weekend

Oda should have done better.

Let's face it, Aberdeen were absolutely scintillating yesterday compared to what we have come with today against Old Firm

Was just thinking that too. Simply not good enough. If we play like that in Europe, we will receive some royal hammerings.

True. Just the second balls and lack of conviction in passing/the final third made it a very, very difficult watch.

Yup

Congratulations Hearts. Given rangers their confidence back.

The truth is, rangers are absolutely rank rotten, we managed to play even worse.

The most beatable The Rangers team in a while.

But our passing and final ball meant we deserved nothing.

A waste.

Can't believe I stuck a century on Hearts today, and watched a lacklustre powderpuff display. Vargas was embarrassing today, a rabbit in headlights. Naismith got the tactics and team set up all wrong, against a very weak Rangers. Ah well.

A huge missed opportunity today. Shot ourselves in the foot twice.  Disappointing didn’t real do it justice.

Need to sign some quality in the summer because we have very little.

With 6 million plus coming in, it's type to push the boat if we're to progress.

FT. The usual utterly predictable excrement against that shower unfortunately. Oh well, on to Killie on Saturday where a win confirms 3rd.

I think that's exactly the kind of player that was missing tbh, someone who can get a quality final ball in plus provide a bit of goal threat from midfield.

Didn't lay a glove on them. Not even a plan A.

Toothless. Deserved nothing out that game despite that being a shite Rangers team.

Oh well! Someone better start a reality check thread.

Hopefully next season, with squad improvements we can get closer to the uglies, because they're nothing special

We won’t take near 20k to a semi against either of them next season. Folk are fed up of the same shit performance year in year out. Turn up already beaten.

No less than expected sadly.

Rowles, Atkinson & Beni need to learn when to put a hard tackle in.

Devlin, Grant & Tait are woeful on the ball.

Shankland, Vargas & Forrest hold onto the ball for far far too long.

A couple of the above you can say is just a poor performance but there is more than a few there you know it will never change.

Big summer for us otherwise Europe will become a nightmarish slog again

Another bottle job. How the **** can the supposed third force have gone so long without beating these pricks at Hampden. The likes of Motherwell, Dundee Utd, Hibs etc have managed it yet not a single win for us. It's a ****ing joke.

😡💩

A very poor performance against a very vulnerable Rangers side. Our shape was completely wrong from the beginning. **** a back 4. Totally outnumbered in modfield start to finish. Rangers midfield had acres of space. And we were pretty much shitehawks in the tackle. Rangers must have won 80-90% of the 50-50 tackles.

How many of this squad will we keep next season? We're not set up for the challenge of European and league football with this squad that's for sure. Quality and depth both needed.

At least 3 of them shouldn't even be on the bus back to Tynie.

Another embarrassingly poor Hampden performance. Feel gutted for the fans but fed up now with this squad.  The lack of quality is plain to see. The lack of intensity, the consistently poor starts to matches , poor decision making in attacking third. Absolutely dire against a bang average huns side.

As for the tactics - public apology is due for that.

It was very unlikely we would have equalised anyway, the way we were going. He just put us out of our misery sooner rather than later.

Really quite embarrased by that performance today.

Just seemed to show cowardice in first ten and then never ever beleive they could compete.

Even when Sevco gifted us gilt edge chances we all looked like we wanted someone else to have the responsibilty.

Like the parson's egg, we had some very positive periods of play. Even enjoyable to watch at times. But, as you say, our final third decision-making and accuracy was rank, so even when we bossed it on occasion, you felt we were never going to take advantage of that.

Kingsley and Kent the only ones that get pass marks for me.

Rowles an utter pussy for the first goal and  Vargas who was appalling today fighting it out for culprit of the match
