Does anyone know if the SFA  put any conditions on Foley/Black Knights that would prevent him/them  increasing the current percentage of share ownership ?    Its quite possible  that the Gordon family are  looking for a way out (with some profit), so they'll go along with whatever his plan is.

He can't go above a certain % (29 I think) as it would put effect Hibs in Europe...should Bournemouth or Lorient ever make it. I think that's the terms of it.

Think the rules only allow up 29.9% if someone owns another club.Rules can change though as there was discussions about dual ownership a month or so before the Foley story broke.

They make up their own reality, we had a dodgy owner for a little period, we ended up with debt written off via the CVA. Since then we have done everything (apart from playing football) very well. They also had their debt written off, short memories. Hope it all crashes around them and their weekends can forevermore be spent cheering on whoever is playing us.

The debt is a curious one. Did the Gordons deliberately create the £5.7 million debt so they can maintain a share level by converting the debt to shares so they balance the Foley shares and investment.

Worth investigating and asking questions.

From someone on the outside, with a fairly limited business knowledge, this looks to me to be paving the way for the Gordons to sell up a little down the line. Changing the procedures that mean someone only has to buy 80% of the shares to force the minority shareholders to sell is a sly move and one the vast majority won't understand or take into consideration. Give it 5 years and Hibs will be a lower half Premiership side with a bunch of Bournemouth academy players on loan, and all Hibs youth talent get sent there for peanuts.

Yes, something like this.

I think that you have to look at what the Gordon's and Foley are wanting from their investments. Ron saw player trading as being profitable while Foley wants to use it as a stepping stone to the Bournemouth team. The possible conflict will arise when the Gordons want to cash in on a player and Foley wants him to go to Bournemouth. Two conflicting objectives which won't work so asset strip and sell in separate parts as per the American model.

That's basically it.

Bournemouth obviously have the right to their own players so no money profit for Hibs.   The hope that they can loan quality players within the F group as a stepping stone to Bournemouth.

If Hibs do have a player that comes through their youth system will he go cheap or will they get a good return is the question.   The recent success on McGinn suggests their hoping to snatch an upcoming player.   The lad that went to Italy done well.

Maybe max 500k to 1M for an upcoming player then loan straight back or to another club.   They'd have to be excellent to reach 1m.  They have a young full back getting gametime currently but he's not worth a lot just now.

The investment going in could pay off their debt.   They could offload players next season to balance the books.   Then it's a rebuild with lots of loans and youth.   New manager perhaps.

I'm not certain I trust the business model personally.  Forced to use players from another club(s).   Could easily be disharmony within the group but you have to get on with it.

I dunno.   I'll be keeping an eye on it see what happens.   I think they have an AGM on the 22 nd then the final vote on the 27th.   Apparently the majority want it to pass and some don't care.   Interesting stuff.

By The Light..

29.9% limit is probably down to UK company law where at 30% they have to offer to buy the lot and that would fall foul of FA or UEFA rules on multiple ownership

FTH

What is the rule for 30% takeover in the UK?

Requirement for a mandatory offer: Where a bidder is interested in shares carrying 30% or more of the target's voting share rights, the bidder must make a mandatory offer in cash at no less than the highest price paid during the preceding 12 months (often referred to as a "Rule 9 offer").

The real shame in all of this is they can only die once.

I want to see them start again as a community club in the junior league.

We can see the warning signs because we've been there.

With Romanov we had no choice but to run with it and we were extremely fortunate that a handful of people had the foresight and started FOH.

They have no choice but to accept whatever the money men decide and hope it doesn't go tits up.

Anyone who thought the vast majority of the 'cash injection' wasn't going straight into the pockets of the Gordon family needs to get out more. As for HSL the late Ron prevented them increasing their shareholding for very sound financial reasons. From his perspective anyway.

This is exactly where I am too . Everything changed during our administration and the way they behaved . All because they knew they could never better us on the pitch . They actually tried to play a part in the death of our club . The thread is there on their forum if anyone needs to remind themselves . I want them gone

Hibs fans knew, and still know, that the only way they will ever be the number one club in Edinburgh is by our demise, they've shown that they're incapable of achieving that by results. They can't do it on the pitch.

For Hearts fans, the demise of Hibs would remove a rival which we've been superior to for almost 150 years and who has provided countless priceless moments down the years. And we'd remain as the number one club in Edinburgh.

Best case scenario is they get liquidated and form a newco after selling off all their assets . They would still exist to get the natural order dished out but be a shadow of the dead club in terms of size

I don't really understand the shares 29% issue and all the other stuff but if there is a chance of this all going Pete Tong and those rats ceasing to exist then I find that very exciting.

A big question has to be why none of their very wealthy celeb fans have not made public any plan to buy Hibs and use their trusted  business & legal contacts to operate them.  e.g. Andy Murray or  the Proclaimer boys

Andy Murray will have sports  folk that he uses for  medical recovery and psychological training as part of his company, and he wouldn't miss a  few million in loose change.

So can we assume that none of them actually care very much about Hibs ?   Or do they just don't want the hassle &  abuse from Hibs fans when they continue to be thrashed & dominated  by Edinburgh's fan-owned big team ?  😎

Why pay so much to agencies to run catering and the shop when you could be a key community employer. The money we have wasted in a football sense is also shocking.

It’s sad that as a club we spent so long doing things the right way while Hearts didn’t yet they end up the community club and we are now at the whim of the investment market."
