There is basically only 3 teams in it, Japan, S Korea and Oz. What is the point? There's been 5 different winners in the last 7 tournaments; none of which were South Korea. Doesn't seem that bad? Rowles looked a player when he first arrived but lost his confidence and his way under Neilson. I’ve always liked NA - he’s obviously better going forward but I think there is a sense of chaos and unpredictability about him that opposing defenders can’t handle. Atkinsons a decent player and will improve - have the new guy as backup but unless the newbie shows a lot while NA is away then he shouldnt be the automatic starter just because he comes from the EPL. Thankfully for NA he doesnt miss too many HMFC games due to the winter closedown.

jamboinglasgow
1-0 Australia after Indian keeper knocks it into the path of Jackson Irvine. Shame for India but only so long you can go backs against the wall throwing everything into blocking it. One of the Indian players seems to have taken every knock possible and still going. OTT
As I understand it, Dhanda qualifies for India through his parents(?). Given the lack of players playing at a reasonable level there, I'm surprised he's not had a cap yet. Should we sign him, I wouldn't be surprised to see him get some caps fairly quickly. He cant play for India without giving up his Uk citizenship for Indian citizenship. Indian law does not allow players to play for the national side if they dont have Indian citizenship (and cant be duel nationality.) There are quite a few European born players who could play for India but wont give up their citizenship of their birth countries as it severely restricts where they can play (if Dhanda did that, he would have to apply for a work permit on appeal to play in the UK due to India being so far down the FIFA rankings. Its a shame as Dhanda has said he wants to play for India but to do what is required would caused far too many problems.

I assumed like most countries, they'd want to make it as easy as possible so as to improve their national teams prospects. Thats really sad

Given India's size, it could be a great way to improve their national team and generate increased domestic interest (as they won't be shite). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_diaspora Just need to look at the net they would be casting with the diaspora, 1.8m in the UK alone. Appreciate India has 1.4 BILLION but they're not really a football nation. Their FA president must be pulling his hair out I assume its an oversight, but if not, the phrase "cutting your nose off to spite your face" comes to mind. Though I wonder if the law is mainly due to nationalist feelings, where if you want to be a patriotic Indian and play for your country then surely its a easy choice to be only an Indian citizen. Quite possibly, think they're a country with huge potential with sports from their sheer size. Hopefully something they reverse, because they'd absolutely be able to compete at a higher level. it would be brilliant for the club to have an Indian International playing for us. He could very well end up being the first player to play for the national team through this rule change (should it happen). Absolutely desperate to see the Dhanda deal getting done. Feeling he's going to be a huge player for us.

There are a few other sports they do really well in like Hockey. But for their size they have struggled, in the Olympics they have only won 7 gold medals since independence. Yeah I hope so too

The Black Prince
Iran looked awesome and so did Japan. If Vietnam got two against Japan then they must be considered dangerous and may well be Oz's opponent in the Rd of 16. South Korea play tonight.
