loveofthegame
Looks really bad and can surely only have been a gas explosion. You pray no one was inside because have to assume nobody survives that. Few mates who heard it from a long way off. Awful.

Ray Gin
Holy crap, that must have been one hell of an explosion. Good to hear the occupants got out ok. Quite remarkable considering the wreckage in those photos.

tokyowalnut
Less than 100m from my door. I thought my roof had come in before knowing what had happened. Utter chaos, but the couple are off to hospital. The house has been razed to the ground, crazy seeing something like that. Hive of activity now with the fire service. Cade
RIP to the unfortunate gentleman and condolences to his family. Gas explosions are extremely destructive to the structure where the leak happens but due to the nature of exploding natural gas, are luckily usually contained to just that structure. In terms of explosions, natural gas is a slow explosion so it's more of a pushing force, albeit one with a lot of pushing power. That's why the originating structure is usually totally demolished but also why debris doesn't usually travel very far.
