Has set the foundation.

Just need that extra preparation for the course and be even more aggressive. Helps we can have some fans there.

Be interesting to see what they do. He has huge experience in the States and Bethpage will be a massively partisan venue for the Europeans to deal with.

Brilliant captaincy from Luke Donald. Hope he stays on for the next one.

Would be a superb pick to stay on for an away match.

Bethpage is a brute of a course and it'll be a brilliant watch as always.

2.5 points for Bob. Some players would kill to have that tally in their career.

Exactly. Easy to have a go at him . Not a bad record at all. He can be very happy with his contribution

Has anyone ever Captained 2 Ryder Cups in a row? Funny thing I always thought Westwood and Poulter would make great Captains.....guess that's ****ed now 🤷

The Boab narrative was driven by the commentators in my opinion. He didn't have many 'moments' but did miss a few chances to win holes across the weekend, but he was pretty solid throughout. Would be interested to see his scorecard.

Use to be the norm for Europe/GB&I but hasn't happened since 93/95 now.

2.5 times what Fitzpatrick has and he has had 8 games over 3 Ryder cups.

True. Fitz has earned his spot each time though.

I was trying to recall if Lyle was ever a vice in the 90s/00s. He was heavily linked to get the main gig but it never materialised.

Lawrie was another that was being mentioned just before Harrington.

I can remember Sandy Lyle qualifying for team and he had guts to withdraw from team because he was out of form.

Maybe Fitzpatrick could do the same.

Europe scored 16.5 points  with 2.5pts to his credit Robert McIntyre contributed almost almost 1/6 of Europe's total. Not bad going for a novice Ryder cup player.

Lyle wasn't a popular man amongst peers apparently. No idea why but his time has gone.

Lawrie doesn't play much now so not sure he will get the gig.

Could be Molinari or Colsaerts

His overall points record is not great but he played well this week.

Depending on how active he is on the competition front, Rose could be a strong contender for Ireland in four years.

1.5 of his points should really be shared with Justin Rose otherwise it would be double counting for points won in Fourballs or Foursomes.

That's not how the stats work though.

Seems to take up a lot of their time so most players want to get back to playing. I can’t see many other options unless the Liv guys come back into the fold.

Aye it is. If you worked out everyone's contributions in the same way that McIntyre's was calculated to result in him contributing a sixth, the total would be 28 points gained by European players, i.e. 170% of the team's total of 16.5 points. ;)

P.S. Back of the envelope stuff. Might not be entirely accurate.

Absolutely. Listening to Sky after the event, you'd be struggling to know he was a part of the team

The stats will show that MacIntyre has 2.5 points, not 1.75. That's just a fact.

Indubitably. However, if MacIntyre contributed a sixth of the total points, then the rest of the players contributed over nine sixths. Excellent news - it means that we beat the Americans by even more than we thought we did!

Footballfirst's post referenced the number of points, not the percentage contributed to the overall total.

Anyway, we're debating different things so I'm right and you're wrong.

Player records are on wins, losses and ties. Sometimes points but never halfed by pairings.

Pairings records are one of the key stats.

It is indeed brilliant by Bob.

However if you count the total points gained by the European side in the same way, you get a figure of 27 points won.

McIntyre is a donkey

2.5 points out of 3, one of only 3 players to go unbeaten, won more points than the world #1 and beat the current US Open champion…
