Great day yesterday, thought we were excellent from around 15 minutes in. Jamie Ritchie MOM for me but some great performances all over the pitch.

The new Australian wonder boy done himself with a no wrap tackle.

There's been a couple of GIFs shared on social media with him mouthing off to Tuipolotu after hurting his own arm by putting in a poor tackle on the Scot :D

Pretty sure England will beat Japan. We can then prepare to be overwhelmed by hearing how brilliant England are, how Marcus Smith is world best no 10 and how their backs put all other 6 nations backs to shame.

There's a difference between the English media and the many England supporters I know. The latter group recognise that whilst Smith is an exciting alternative to Ford and Farrell, he still wishes he was as good as Finn Russell.

Watching it live on Saturday I did why on earth Sue-ellan was just about going boxing with our Captain. Clearly his RL background coming to the fore.

That new Irish stand off is a thoroughly unathletic looking specimen. He runs like his feet are sore all the time. Can obviously play a bit but not the most elegant number 10.

From 35-0 up, Edinburgh made hard work of beating Benetton. Still, bonus point win I guess

Weird URC week, with it being the week after the Autumn international and week before the European games start, with Glasgow resting a lot of players but sneaking a win over the full strength Scarlets, and Edinburgh playing a strong team against an under-strength Benetton team in a epitome of a game of 2 halves.

I saw this logo on the front page of the BBC Sport website and didn't really pay any attention as didn't know what it was about...but after going to the Rugby section, I see it's the new logo for the Six Nations

Europe not a priority it seems. Hope for a win but not expecting it. I was sure Edinburgh were away at Gloucester.

I've no idea if Gloucester are putting out a strong team for their game against Edinburgh but, if they are, my money's definitely on them. A lot of Edinburgh's best players are being "rested" for this one, which is strange, as they could do well in the Challenge Cup if they put their best team out.

I suppose it's all about balancing the minutes players play in their bread and butter league campaign and how much they want to do well in what, admittedly, is the lower tier European competition.

Gloucester playing very strong team. Edinburgh prioritising league over Europe, just like Hearts.

Glasgow seem to be putting out close to their best team for their game against Sale tomorrow, with just a couple of lesser names in it. They've got 4 tough games to try and get out of their pool (Toulon, Racing and Harlequins after Sale), but they've got a chance if they can bring their best URC form.

Edinburgh came back into that as the half wore on, and deserved their try to make it 7-7. Quite a few handling errors, which is no surprise really with the weather.

That's a ridiculous decision by the ref/TMO to give a yellow to Edinburgh, he tries to charge down the kick and the collision is just because of the player's momentum. Purely a rugby collision, not a yellow and not even a penalty in my book.

Edinburgh lose 15-10. Two 2nd half yellow cards and never really threatening in the 2nd half until late on gave them little chance, but they got the losing bonus point with a last second penalty I suppose.

Starting with a 3rd choice scrum half, and the 4th choice then getting a debut (Vellacott was injured in the warmup), says it all about the team they put out. You'd think a first, or close to it, choice team would have got the win.

I'm trying not to criticise refs. The decision to give the 2nd yellow was dubious at best. Gloucester, who had strong team out, were pish poor.

I'll be honest, I thought the referee was having an ok game in the first half, but there were a couple of decisions in the 2nd half that had me shaking my head.

The 2nd yellow being the most obvious, one playing trying to kick the ball, the other trying to charge it down, followed by an innocuous (slight) clash of heads as both players momentum carried them into each other. Not a yellow in my book and, as I said last night, I didn't even think it was a penalty. There also was a clear maul that should have been called when Edinburgh held the player up, but the referee didn't call it and ended up penalising Edinburgh as the Edinburgh player ripped the ball away as the the Gloucester player went to ground. As he was calling tackle as it happened, you've got to play to his instructions, but it seemed harsh not to have called a maul before that.

I'm watching Sharks-Exeter, and the Durban team were cruising at 36-14...but they've just gone down to 12 men with 3 yellow cards, and could conceivably have gone down to 11 with another deliberate knock-on! It's now 39-21, but 15 against 12 for the next 10 minutes could make it an interesting finish.

And Exeter butcher the chance they had with a 3 man advantage to even get a try bonus point ,as it finishes 39-21

To say the least. Glasgow hammering Sale so far, 19 points in under 19 minutes.

That'll help Sale, a penalty try and a yellow card, and it's George Horne who's been the difference so far

Well, that didn't last long. Glasgow go straight down the field with 14 men and score the bonus point try already

Apart from losing a try straight away.

4 attacks, 4 tries.

26-7.

If Glasgow keep 15 men on pitch, they'll score barrowload of tries.

When you see their forward pack, it gives plenty hope for Scotland in 6 nations.

Glasgow are light years ahead of where Edinburgh are at the moment. The frustrating thing is that Edinburgh have just as good players, if not better in some cases, but they just don't have the coach or "team togetherness" that Glasgow have

Quiet 2nd half after a high scoring 1st half, but a straightforward bonus point win for Glasgow

Another harsh yellow at the end of Glasgow game. Group gets tougher for Glasgow now but that's a good win.

I see Harlequins losing which must be a surprise to English viewers being as they have the greatest number 10 in the history of rugby playing for them.

Scotland to play the New Zealand Maori team next summer, followed by 2 tests against Pacific Island teams. After the North/South America tour this summer, is that the new strategy - not do summer tours to play tier 1 nations, or do none of them want to play Scotland?!

Duhan Van Der Merwe signs a 2 year contract extension with Edinburgh. I've read a lot of talk that it might have been better for Edinburgh to free up his, no doubt substantial, salary and move on from him, as he hasn't been lighting it up for Edinburgh since he came back to them as much as he has for Scotland. With Graham, Goosen and, assuming he can come back from injury, Boffelli, they have a lot of quality cover in the back three, so I can see how that might have made sense. But he's back for now, so hopefully he can score more tries for Edinburgh...if they can work out how to actually bring their back three into play more often!

Edinburgh on their way to a bonus point win over Bayonne in the Challenge Cup, currently up 31-12 after 60 minutes. Darcy Graham is the standout again, scoring 2 tries himself so far as well as creating for others too. He's unstoppable at the moment.

Comprehensive win for Edinburgh in the end, beating Bayonne 52-12, a team who are 5th in the French Top 14, after leading 12-0 at half-time.
