France have defended superbly here today and played a very clever game here tactically. Germany’s offside line has been oooft. They just look lacking a bit going forward.

I thought germany offered little.

Poor match with neither side showing all their cards.

It is true that France are thought of as exciting but actually defend for at least half the time.

Extremely defensive performance. Germany not the team they used to be.

'England have nothing to fear' really should be the discussion.

It took until the 8th minute of stoppage time but they got there.

Based on recent form those are all the cards Germany have.

Yup , lacking up front , France just sat in  had a cup of tea , let them come forward and Germany couldn’t open them up

indeed , very simple and tbh that was comfortable for them tonight. Germany couldn’t ask questions

But not as far as Marshall

He actually went over the halfway line.

Not sure if Germany have any more cards, Sane has been terrible and the number 9 they brought on near the end was awful.

Hard to tell how good France were on that showing.

Suppose it will take a few games to really see who is on form.

Yup, almost as disappointed in germany as I was with Spain.

Genuinely do think England have a chance here.

Looks like Joachim Löw's reign can't come to an end soon enough for the Germans. That is as poor a side from them as I've seen in quite a while: no swagger, silly mistakes a plenty, poor touches, lackadaisical passing and crossing along with players that just don't look like they can handle it. The ITV pundits will be Dutch Ruddering themselves into little "nothing to fear against them if we get them in the latter rounds" stuppers.

No outstanding team so far, Portugal maybe?

France?  Who knows?

England?  A good chance for the tournament.

Germany only lost a group stage match versus a nation that has good results in Germany.   Germany can still qualify, make the finals and knock all rivals out.   No skin off their backs tonight.

Worryingly so. Goretzka will make a difference and I think Kimmich is wasted at wing back but looking at their squad I can’t see much else, Klostermann isn’t an upgrade.

England for me lack experience. The thing that is consistent among winners.

But who knows. For me Italy, Belgium, Portugal and France look very good. Holland, Spain and England have potential. Germany, Denmark are outsiders.

I enjoyed that, watched it in my local French bar.  Some people think I go there to drink but I really go there to improve my French!  However I think the French words I learnt tonight to describe VAR cannot be used in polite conversation!

I watched it on French TV. Just finished watching the post match. Usual non committal post match interviews. 'Solid' the most used word. They enjoyed it though.

The first time I used that when I moved to France, it caused laughter all round. It's not used in France any more and would be similar to an English speaker exclaiming "Gadzooks!" :D

France or Italy. Hopefully they can meet in the final. I haven't looked at the draw.

But that statement is only if Scotland doesn't win it. :)

I still think the French and Germans have plenty left in the tank.

They are very experienced campaigners of tournament football.

What many here consider as a not very good German team, they are still formidable opponents for the vast majority of teams in this tournament.

Thought the Germans took too long time and again to move the ball from

midfield to the last third alot faster.

I don’t know how many times Gundogan took the safe option after a white shirt had timed a nice run behind their marker?  Clearly in his eye line but never made the pass.
