Greedy Jambo
Why do we even need a Wendy's? there's a million burger kings and mcdonalds. Fair enough, Taco Bell, but not more shitey burgers. p.s I prefer Burger King. Edited May 9, 2021 by Greedy Jambo
Captain Slog
Never even realised this thread was here, I just posted on the history thread. But thanks to this news, we were getting nostalgic about an old burger bar in Princess street, and thanks to @Tazio, we've just discovered we want Wimpeys, not Wendys
Greedy Jambo
Seen this is going to be in the new St James centre. I'll be all over it like a rash, if i ever set foot in the place.

Greedy Jambo
Wimpy is just nostalgia, let's face it. if they made a new one in town, it would be great for all of 2 minutes.
Sharpie
After twelve years of eating the piece I brought from home in a police box in Edinburgh, I thought I had died and gone to heaven when I could drive into an all night burger place, get a nice Burger and fries, with a milk shake, 'twas soooo goood. Leave with a coffee to go, and sip that a bit later. Next twenty six years in the police never carried a piece again. I am not totally sure there really good or bad drive in 'burgers its just if they are done properly. Of course it was also quite different on day and afternoon shifts just to go in to a restaurant and have a proper meal. In case anyone asks yes had offers of free meals but always paid. It establishes that you cannot be bought.

tian447
Can't say I'd ever have any desire to try it out. It's a saturated market, and they'll struggle to get any sort of foothold in the UK with the sheer number of options. Fast food burgers are great for the 2 minutes it takes you to eat them, and then half an hour later you're starving but have still somehow managed to eat nearly half your daily calories in one grease-stained paper bag. If you forget that it is probably only about 40% actual meat (probably), then they are not too bad. I only really eat them if I am going to be boozing and need a quick snack when I get home from work to line the stomach or if I am hungover and need some cheap stodge. They're actually not any worse than a McDonald's burger.
EH11_2NL
Out of all the burger chains, Wendy's is the worst. Tried it once here and it was truly awful stuff. In fact, most takeaway burger and chicken place are awful. Chuck away the inside and eat the box IMHO.
davemclaren
Was in a Wendy’s in London about 30 years ago. I can’t recall if I though it better or worse than any other burger chain. 🤷♂️ I did prefer Wimpy to McDonald’s though.

Pagey
Some decent places for burgers over here in NC and being in BBQ country, usually involve some brisket or pulled pork. Portion sizes are ridiculous tho. I prefer the local owner managed burger shacks/bars than the chains. Some great options within a short drive. All roads lead to Gorgie
I remember from visiting the US Wendy's always seemed to have a branch next door to the motel chains. We learned quickly that if you walked or drove a little further there was often a local burger joint with much better offerings. Even so the Wendy's over there are still likely to be better than anything we have here at the budget end.

Been to a few South African BBQ’s in Sierra Leone….they were diamond miners working in a huge compound…….hard to beat their bbq…..coo with heed, tail and hoofs cut off and that was about it…..not a bit of salad to be seen……huge slabs of beef, lamb, pork and of course…..huge iced buckets full of beer.
