Snatches at shots or does the opposite and takes too long. He’s got this habit of always wanting to do a dummy shot or turn first instead of instinctively taking a shot. I do agree with others though that he’s being asked to do too much outside the area. But is this symptomatic of the game these days or simply how we lack in other areas? Midfielders who don’t run behind opponents, fullbacks who don’t get up the park, not much combination play between the midfield and wide players to let strikers get in the box more often....it’s pish. Have we actually improved since CL. As you rightly highlight it is the same issues. Nobody moves out of their area of the field so it becomes rigid and so easy for defences. Exactly like CL. The Apprentice
It’s early days but I’m surprised from all the threads started there is no mention of Naismith, who IMO is a real problem. Contributes nothing apart from point and shouting at folk. A lot of players nowhere near it and Boyce has missed some chances however the ‘service’ he gets is guff. soonbe110
No more international football until March so no more travelling etc for Boyce, Smith and Gordon. Should be able to get training settled down now as Sept, Oct and Nov have all been disrupted by international activity. From comments made by many players international trips are not a lot of fun due to COVID regulations and bubbles. Hopefully we see marked improvement soon. Coco
Boyce is playing 15 yards too deep. This is compressing our whole side and robbing us of space all over the park. He is making it easy for the opposition defenders as he always comes short and doesn't threaten to play on their shoulder. He's been another massive disappointment. Surely not already!? I wouldn't be having too much of a go at Robbie tonight. IMO the 1st half just typified Hearts - looked fairly composed moving the ball around into wide areas and then ... nothing. Absolutely nothing from wide men who can't beat a player or cross the ball. As for Naismith : utterly pointless apart from continually dropping back to the half way line just to get involved. Too many bang average players (even for this division) mean we will not be beating teams playing great football or scoring loads of goals. This is going to be a slog.
