A few quotes from the above:-

"St Mirren's enforced hiatus has been a "disaster" for the players' fitness, says manager Jim Goodwin, as they prepare for their first Scottish Premiership fixture in 27 days.

The club's past two league games were postponed due to Covid-19 outbreaks.

After the entire squad had to self-isolate they resumed training on Monday and face Dundee United on Friday.

"They're not going to be 100% , but we're not looking to use that as an excuse," said Goodwin."

"We have a return to training protocol we need to follow and some of the players have only done half an hour the last couple of days.

"From a manager's point of view it's great to have that time to reflect on certain situations. For the players it's a disaster because the majority of the lads have spent two weeks in the house - some of them three weeks - so any fitness work they've been able to do is indoors, which isn't ideal."

"Goodwin has called for unity across Scottish football and said: "It's important that we all stick together during this period, not shoot each other down."

I think it’s fair to say Goodwin, that every Hearts fan is united in wanting the demise of your shitty wee club. I’m guessing that’s not the unity you were after though.
No hard feelings though eh

Good one that.  Unity.   How about shut up Goodwin.   Clown.   Or if you can't, have a good drink of some herbal and calm down, medicinally.

Celtic it was a player failing to quarantine when he was abroad that was the definite violation.

I think you are confusing players getting the virus with breaches in protocol. Players can get the virus without a breach in protocol. We don't know how many breaches there have been by St Mirren.

The distinction between club and players is a helpful fiction for clubs like Celtic and Aberdeen. What we are talking about in either case are club employees failing to follow the protocols correctly. It shouldn't matter whether those backroom staff are backroom staff or players. In the case of Aberdeen and Celtic the clubs broke the protocols.

Great point - at the very least they failed to adequately train their employees...

Precedent is the problem

If action is taken it would have to apply to all and other clubs will be aware of this and eager not to set such a precedent just in case.

With no rules in place in advance of the season the first real action will have to be something that applies to all and can be applied to all equally and fairly

Isn't it just breathtakingly incredible that this clown has the temerity to come out with this ?    The same guy who dismissed the concept of "sticking together" back in April with a comment about Hearts deserving to go down.

Karma is on its way, Jim - and if it's any consolation, Hearts fans are very much "sticking together during this period"., and are looking forward to your club being "shot down"  :jambobanana:

So Make Some Noise..

I never thought I'd come to see it this way but I now find it quite refreshing that we're outside the SPL watching it implode!

Chance to go on a bit of an adventure with a new team, a shot at a cup final and a league title whilst some of the snakey wee clubs upstream cripple into oblivion before we rejoin!

Decent.

I wouldn't want St Mirren to go bust......but every other possible negative incident is welcome.

Food Poisoning.

Ruptured sewer line.

Infestation of killer bees.

Accidentally adding Plutonium to the kit wash....

These are fine.

The hypocrisy being shown here is absolutely mind blowing. No wonder our game is in such a mess when you this see total garbage being spouted and getting air time and coverage in the paper media. My day will be made if this lot are ultimately relegated and better still go out of business along with the likes of Hamilton, Dundee Utd and Ross County.

Seeing the end arrive for that excuse for a club in the coming months would be absolutely glorious.

As for Goodwin - exposed himself again as a self-serving, sanctimonious tw*t.

Really pisses me off that the media never once pull them up when they talk of fairness. Do none of the media hacks even think it's odd they say these things with a straight face?

“a hell of a turnaround”

So now 4 points with 24 to play for is a hell of a turnaround? That's just accepted wisdom in Scottish football is it, despite there being examples all over the shop of teams making up that gap very easily within that number of games. So does Goodwin now tell his players it'll be a "hell of a turnaround" for them to get out of relegation danger this season, given they've lost their last 6 games? May as well give up then.

Pretty sure Motherwell have already completely transformed their form within a few games. They didn't win any of their first 6 games, then won 4 of their next 5.

And that’s without taking into account we had to play each of the teams directly above us (Ross County twice), which comes about due to the rules of the competition!

And County had the worst form in the league at that time. This narrative that our form simply wouldn't have changed within the remaining games and that teams like Hamilton, County and St Mirren (despite all also being very poor) would continue picking up points was just nonsense, and it was disappointing to even see some Hearts fans buying into it and saying we "deserved" to go down.
