The Gillets of this world do not pump their own money into clubs they do as the Glasers do and get the club into massive debt.

We, the fans, have spent the better part of the last decade in taking the club under community ownership.

HMFC is not for sale.

HMFC is not a vanity project nor a tax dodge nor a debt sponge for some rich chump or other.

We are the club and the club is us.

Well said!  You just saved me typing pretty much the same thing.

Only thing I would add - once bitten twice shy.  We've entertained ourselves over Ron the Con and his motives - let's not put ourselves potentially in the same position.

We can compete for 3rd without any investment other than from the fans. To compete with Celtic for the title would take a serious amount of cheddar. And for what return..? It’s just not worth it in my opinion for him or us

It reminds me of the week leading up to an Old Firm match when a weird story appears, maybe just me but I think it's trying to deflect from present problems we face.Probably a mate of Dermot Desmond

We should talk to this guy. No, the club's not for sale, but feel free to be a FOH contributor or better still a benefactor!

I wonder how much he actually values us at ?  Stable club, no debt,  great infrastructure, just need to find a league that will have us 😂

Depends what his plans were.

I would never be against selling the club if it was to the right people.

If the boys absolutely minted and genuinely wants to invest to win trophies, I wouldn't be against it.

I personally don't think fan ownership long term will allow us to be ambitious. It safeguards the club perhaps and we will probably always finish bottom 6, mid table or yo-yo between the Premier League and Championship but to challenge and win trophies, I think we need major private investment.

Not saying this guy is the guy but I don't think we should ever close ourselves to offers.

I'd be down for 51% fan ownership, 49% private ownership like in Germany.

It shouldn't be dismissed without talking to him at least to understand his motives. He must know there is no money to be made in Scottish football, it's not like an EPL team where investors can leverage up the club while taking in the massive tv and sponsorship money.  The only way he could possibly get any return on a scottish team is to have them regularly competing in group stages of a European competition. If have others have suggested there can be strict parameters around maintaining overall fan ownership (51%) and not taking on debt then it must at least be worthwhile hearing him out.

It should be totaly dismissed at this time .100%.

Our mysterious Benefactors have said they have our back for the next 5 years .

They are likely to back off if we sell out .

Let's see where fan ownership takes us .

So definitely a no  from me .

He would not be buying  into us for charity or just for fun or chuck money at us ,it would be for business reasons a return no matter if we make money or not .

I'm not closed to selling off a portion of our ownership in future but only to a business person with links or an interest in our club or community ,some one who sees the benefit to the community rather than us as an asset.

So what do we need? Because clearly the status quo isn't doing the job where it counts. We've been an epic failure for the last 4 years.

Should talk to him last few years have been a disaster and see his views on the future - if someone had said 4 years on back then we'd be a Championship club (possibly maybe maybe not) I'd have laughed in their face at a utter stupid comment 🙄

Spot on. I couldn't agree more. If this guy wants to invest in the club that's fine, but no way can he become the owner. He has to realise that we, the supporters will always have the best interests of the club. If he wants to be the first among equals that's fine but he can't be any more than that.

I wouldn't want to be totally closed off from the option of new investors coming in and taking on the club in future. The deal and investors would obviously need to be right.

This guy isn't the right guy to take the club on, and I'd say that this isn't the right time.

In the midst of a football financial Armageddon a financially credible American investor enquires about investing in HMFC and we roundly agree to tell him him to sling his hook. I for one am rather enjoying how this must look to the rest of the leagues.

Only HMFC.

Surely the benefactors and FofH have to be fully bye on board or else...BOLT! I don't want to end up like H1b5 owned by some unknown American.

Some of the comments here show a lack of ambition. He’ll be able to buy bankrupt businesses and assets at knockdown prices post Covid recession. A football club on the other hand gives guys like him a buzz and prestige. Obviously a club in the wealthiest UK city out with London is a  big draw for guys like him. Do we want to be some kind of committee run , workers co-op type outfit operating with a small market share and unable to access big investment. The FoH and Anne Budge did a fantastic job in rescuing the club but it’s stalled since and to take it to the next level needs big investment.

What makes people legit ?

Has he been convicted of anything ?

He appears to be willing to work with FOH so why would we not at least speak to him or any other interested parties ?

You only have an issue if a formal offer is made but there is no harm in discussions.

The US businessman, son of ex-Liverpool chief George Gillett, contacted the Jambos about the possiblity of buying a stake in the club, but insists there is no formal offer on the table - nor has he heard back from Ann Budge.

Gillett says he is ready to make a "significant" investment and is willing to work alongside the Foundation of Hearts, who are on the verge of fan ownership.

One things for sure anyone trying to buy Hearts would have to have very deep pockets and an impeccable reputation for Hearts fans to trust them.

No one would get Hearts on the cheap unlike our American owned neighbours.

Definitely, you just have to look at the number of Americans who are now claiming the dole because their employers can't afford them during this pandemic. As you say no loyalty. American business only care about $$$$.

I see the point you are trying to make. However, sometimes in life you have to be very careful what you wish for! Remember That guy Romanov promising millions and Champions League football? Look how that turned out. I'd be extremely wary of some guy looking to invest in Hearts who has no obvious affiliation to the club. What's in it for him?

Understand the caution but that’s the only time in my lifetime when the club was riding high. A friend I know knew David Murray and he told him he was genuinely worried that a Romanov Hearts would rival the old firm. Agree it went sour but had it not have been for the banking collapse might have turned out well.

It's certainly a dilemma isn't it? Stick with what we know and end up being an average club or risk going baws deep with an investor that could either lead us to glory or the abyss! Good debate though.

Sorry but  you’ve totally and utterly misunderstood my post. All I’ve tried to point out is we are in a position to turn down an American investor on account of our FOH model while other teams would cream themselves over such an offer so must look at us with a high degree of envy. Hence the only Hearts comment. I guess it reads differently to how I intended which was with a degree of sarcasm.

Hope that clears that up.
