Did you have a 'Yoony' experience?

Being angry at young people for wanting to act like young people (when cases were comparatively low) comes across as a bit bitter.

Bitter.

No.  Just expecting a bit of reasonable responsibility and cooperation from people.  Nothing bitter about it.

Maybe the universities or the government were partly to blame but we're not in normal times here.  Whatabouttery about young people just being young people doesn't cut it.

Maybe people should think twice about simply making excuses for everything and start expecting more from people.  Even young people.

Personally think it comes over as bitter, jealous and vindictive. Pli think we should blame golf clubs and the toffs who go there. Seems like no social distancing going on when either playing of socialising afterwards. See plenty of them at Swanton, Braids and Mortonhall and they are just doing as they please.

Boo the golfers, hurray the students.

Who’s making excuses? Sounds like you are desperate to find a scapegoat.

No amount of ridicule can explain the contradiction of demanding the governments get everything right but don't give a shit about personal sacrifices and responsibilities.

Ffs. Horrible Uk figures today. How can it be so high. Is it a temporary blip?

Have they ramped up the testing? They've got a few things that a large number of cases might justify.

Edit: 377,608 tests. Highest number ever, take what you like from that.

Realistically they can’t get everything right. Preserve the economy and save lives?

That’s a lot of tests. Surely if they can keep those figures up it will help.

It'll help get closer to the true amount which must be way higher than that when you think how many asymptomatic cases never get tested.

Maybe.  The rate of compliance to self isolate is what would help.  Wasn't it estimated to be about 20% recently?  Mass testing is great but less so if people don't isolate after a positive test.

Mind you,  maybe that's just another personal responsibility to not give a shit about.

What group of people are you accusing of not self isolating after positive test.

Only example in Scotland I can recall is the MP, and even then, she was in London at the time.

Boo the MP's.

The answer was in the post you quoted.  There was a recent estimate that a very low percentage were bothering to self isolate.  I think it was 20% or so.

I’ve previously stated that due to it being a novel virus, governments cannot be blamed for best efforts, saying that, they are not immune from criticism either.
Personal responsibility cuts across profession, race, age and so on. No particular group should be lumbered with the guilt.

Only 18% of people self-isolate after developing coronavirus symptoms, UK study finds

Research also shows just 11% of people in contact with those testing positive stay at home for 14 days

Agreed.  But more is better.  Absolving of guilt is interesting though.  Should we not encourage a culture where,  to avoid guilt or blame,  one should pull one's weight?

Tier 4 for Glasgow and other areas of the west next week?  That's what people on here were choking for.   Get them into tier 4... and if they break the rules then good on 'em.  It's to be expected.  Amirite?

Just seen this on the news... why if the numbers are very very slightly dropping going by previous posts are they going to wait till next week to put them up a tier

If they were going to do that it should have been done as soon as this tier system was brought in surely?

Perhaps there should be a “furlough fund” that the self employed could access at their own request . Say I had to isolate for 2 weeks, through this I have cost the govt £0.

so if told to isolate I can access the 7 months of £2500 that others have had.

ie I now have a fund of > £15000 I can tap

They say they've got a number of measures to determine the tiers.  It's not as simple as the headline rates and levels.

NHS in various regions are now starting to cut right back on routine care services.  Some of it very important care.  It's almost as if it was a good idea to try to limit the volume of covid they get day on day or week on week.

Very true . People seem to forget the bigger picture and individuals circumstances. However it is still irresponsible.

Not quite, but I’d downgrade to cheaper cask scotch for the week or sack the cleaner

That is the issue I have tried to get across loads of time’s - scotgov and advisers are good at telling us what to do, but very poor at being realistic about what we WILL do.

They are insulated and protected where the rest are not.

pay me my income to sit at home for 2 weeks and it’s rock out with my cock out.

tell me to sit at home for 2 weeks and not get paid?
