If these events are important to sustaining the armed forces that are going to protect us, i thought you would be advocating that other clubs do it as well. But that's not as important to you as having enough army recruits. You still haven't answered if other clubs have refused to do this or haven't been approached. I wonder how many clubs down south are doing this. You surely must see why, if it's only us and rangers are doing it, we are open to the mini tag? But I suppose you dont give a feck about other clubs. Feck the nations safety as it's not as important as you letting us know how much of a PHM you are. If we had more fans like you, crowds wouldn't go down when we were shite. You fancy holding PHM days at schools etc to help recruit new Proper Hearts Fans..? Seeing the military on the streets going about their business in general can help promote their image but does not directly target recruiting, it can however help to improve recruitment when someone decides “I could do that”. There are a lot of people enquire then decide it’s not for them, there are also a lot who try to join but fail for some reason or another. The vast majority of new recruits into the Army are encouraged by relatives and friends and, they had ambitions to join the military for a while. Troops on the plaza are more about breaking down the stigma of joining up. If you have no friends or family and, your military view is guided only by what you hear or see then your perception of the Army may be quite different to what it actually is. In the main, a lot of young people believe you have to be some sort of physical superman to get through the training process and are immediate put off. Talking to troops on the plaza can help break down that myth. The SAS actively send out teams to the army to deliver presentations on their selection process. They were desperately short of recruits as regular soldiers had the perception that SAS selection was almost impossible to pass, again a big myth, any trooper you meet will tell you to go and have a go (ps, you have to be in the military first though). You could do a helluva lot worse, than join the Army. Can be a Great career and life.

EIEIO
Not for me happy with remembrance day not this stuff. My dad fought in WW2 and my older brother was in the Royal engineers and sent to Northern Ireland a few times so I suppose I have a genuine link to the British armed forces. Seems like a propaganda / recruitment exercise Hearts should have nothing to do with this.

Remembrance day for me is always more about the men who saved civilisation and less about the modern day professional soldier . I respect them and honour their sacrifice but the fact is that the modern soldier should know what he is getting into and is really no better than other public service personnel who save lives and put themselves in danger in the process. The club should be more even handed when honouring 'heroes' .You don't have to be in the armed forces to deserve 'hero' status. Having said all that I am a bit uneasy about military personnel getting the run of our stadium.

Goonieref
What a disgrace today we invite the army band to play at half time and that clown announcer plays music blaring out from the tannoy. Fly the Saltire
It's time Hearts abandoned this Armed Forces Day Farce. It was a total embarrassment this afternoon. We had a band playing tunes no one recognised plus a stadium announcer playing pop music and making loud announcements thus drowning out the band's best efforts. Then a upper class English Officer encouraging more cannon fodder from the plebs. It's a divisive total embarrassment that all socialists should oppose and as I understand Rangers are the only other club in Scotland to support this nonsense its time we stopped this charade. As one who has bought wreathes for November 11th events at Haymarket and strongly recommends watching A Game of Two Halves which does not glorify war I applaud Hearts efforts to remember the sacrifice many have made but that is very different from encouraging recruitment for armed forces.
