Yeah , the ball went in eventually !

Var used almost perfectly in the city game. Took too long but definitely the correct decision. Jesus with literally the worst penalty of all time though. Sometimes looks like he can't kick a ball properly.

Shocker of a penalty! Even if it was on target even a hearts keeper would have saved it

Man City onto their third keeper of the night, Kyle Walker.

Posted (edited)

City keeper sent off and with no reserve goalie Kyle Walker goes in goals..about 5 mins to get it sorted out re  VAR etc

They had already lost their keeper at half time with an injury and Bravo now off..still 1-1

Spurs 4-0 up away

The Atalanta player definitely dived, but the way that Bravo slid out did make the striker take evasive action, so perhaps the foul was justified.  If it was deemed a foul by Bravo then, by where and how it happened, it had to be a red card.

The division in the CL is almost making the group stages pointless, stop seeding teams and have a big free for all, it would be far more exciting.

That would mean a fairer share of the money for clubs.  Sadly not a chance.

In the other game in Man City's group two late goals by Shakhtar against D Zagreb, could be vital for Scotland's coefficient and retaining a place in the EL from 2021 onwards.

D Zagreb was 3-1 up well into stoppage time but ended up drawing 3-3. Had they held on to win they would have been big favourites to progress to the knockout stage and get bonus coefficient points as a result. Now with the draw, they are level with Shakhtar, who have the better head to head record by away goals.

Croatia is one of the countries that Scotland needs to surpass over the rest of the European campaign.

Just saw the Ajax handball incident. I thought the new protocol was as long as players maintained a “natural” shape, a handball would not be given as a free kick or penalty. The Ajax player has his hands by his side and doesn’t seem to move his left hand towards the ball.
Quite how the referee could give a penalty and a second yellow card is mystery, given the understood rule. Maybe I’m wrong, though.

We can only imagine the reaction of the English media if this had happened to a Chelsea defender.

The English media that I listened to agreed with every word you said, apart from your final sentence.

Except for the Bravo incident.
It’s hard to believe anyone can watch that in slow motion and still send him off.
The forward should’ve got the red card imo.

Aw cmon man?! He dragged his leg and went down like a sack of spuds. Never a foul in your life.
I hoped VAR would see an end to this kind of cheating. Sadly not.

Au contraire pal
Watching replays of that and thinking that’s a foul is ludicrous.
Didn’t touch him, barely made him change any direction whatsoever, drags his leg into the smallest of contact and goes down.
Im glad it eventually went against them.
The cheating twat wouldve scored if he’d stayed on his feet.

I was sad enough to rewind and noticed it took 7 minutes from the foul to when the free kick was taken. The ref added 7 minutes additionakl time.

Timekeeping needs taken out of the referees hands.

It's amazing how strong German teams are. Second half for them is a time when they play faster and even more aggressively. Leipzig, Bayer.

Great physical display.

Last 15-20 minutes is such an important thing.

It's like "making love".

First hour or so is not that important, the last 15-20 mins is the important part.

Agreed in sense that Lewandowski is a natural born striker. He scores goals for fun. I would disagree with certain team examples, Liverpool for example. However Lewandowski as the man in the middle with Salah and Mané on the wing and Firmino just behind him would be phenomenal. I wouldn’t swap Lewandowski for Salah out of the current set up though.

Did they change the rule/fine for televising games on champions leagues nights?

Championship games on sky are a regular occurrence. Seem to remember there being some palaver when an Edinburgh derby couldn’t be broadcast midweek a couple of years back.

Tbf they had a great spot in the Chelsea game.

Also nice to see one go against LiVARpool

Really concerned with VAR decisions the last two nights.

Last night Real thought they had keeper sent off and a penalty against them but get a soft free kick on half way instead.

Tonight Inter score what they thought was a second only to be called back for a penalty at the other end which was scored to make it one each.

Both final decisions probably corredt!

But!

Need to be quicker!

VAR panel "just checking there was a foul at the goal, yes there definitely was, proceed with goal anyway"

Napoli holding on and it looks like it will all go down to match day 6

Liverpool will need to avoid defeat in Austria to go through

Napoli simply need a point at home against Genk
