Cross border transfers need an extra stage even if, I think he has left club.

"International clearance".

Sinclair signed for Celtic from Aston Villa on a Saturday and made his debut against us the following day.

It's possible (although maybe not for us non-Glasgow sides)

Decent cover if a year.

Having not seen him play, I assume from his quote that he's a classic holding mid, sitting just in front of a back 4?

Good mentor for Cochrane if nothing else.

Yeah from the little I know on him - does the dirty stuff, breaks up play and moves the ball in. Almost 100caps for a consistently decent RoI side and over 10 years of EPL/English Championship experience. On a year's deal feels very, very low risk and like a great signing. EEN saying he played 70 games for Villa over last 2 seasons - so a regular, not a bit part.

Solid looking side with plenty of backup

That side shouldn't be conceding many.

Saw on Twitter he started 14 of the last 18 games for a Villa side that just got promoted.

Sounds like a lot what we need -- we've got the pace, talent, and skill in the side right now, just need to put the pieces together, and a cool head at the back of the midfield could go a long way.

SFA to open Sunday again to get it over the line.

If he was signing for Smeltic or Rankgers then the doors would be open on Sunday...for us though not a chance!

Off the pace, poor on the ball. Championship is a hard league though and he’s getting on

Mixed bag of opinions from the villa fans,

Some of them think his legs have gone, he plays suicide passes and misses penaltys.

Some of them think he's a top pro that had a good influence behind the scenes and could still do a job for another championship side.

Cool, thanks. I wasn’t being wide by the way, I just don’t have enough interest in the English leagues. 👍

Theres a fair few folk saying he was a linchpin in their promotion, certainly over the last 15 games or so. Do you disagree with that?

You’ve just described JKB discussing every midfielder over 30, in my time on here.

Yeah, I suppose we'll just have to see him for ourselves.

I've got a good feeling that he'll sign for us if he's playing golf at dalmahoy.

World class golf course 1 minute from the oriam and the sun is shining! He'll be over the moon lol.

As well getting Don Cowie back...

I’ll be honest with you, and face the flak; I genuinely don’t know a lot about him. I don’t follow Irish internationals and EPL/Championship football closely enough. He seems pretty highly regarded by most though, and that side of it seems to outnumber those who are less enthusiastic.

Who knows though. Hope he’s still a really good player, and he signs for us. 👍

With solid defensive players beside/behind him, and clever forward players in front of him; Clare will do just fine.

I hope he signs for us and proves to be an influential player. I'd rather we take a chance on him than not take a chance on him!

At 35 years of age though, there's always going to be an element of doubt for me. If he can still do a job in the championship, why is he not in talks with a championship side?

I recognise that our league isn't that standard but you've still got to do a lot of running!

Joey Barton came here late in his career and look what happened there.

I know you’ll find this hard to believe, I never want a Hearts player to fail, but I still fail to see what he offers ? People say he’ll come good when he’s next to certain players. It’s up to him  to show something. If he was next to a solid defensive player and he got sent off, do we sub Clare ?

Hoping this one doesn't come off, we don't need an over the hill midfield passenger.

1 year deal won't be too deadly if he flops.

I'd rather we sign him than sign nobody.

If We sign a MF maybe Whelan battles can be won

Clare becomes a player with the ball on front foot and we are potentialy more effective

Jake gets shifted to bench for me

He is a still a prospect to stake a weekly claim

Facepalm could be a big difference maker weve not had someone to compete vs hibs and Aberdeen etc in middle park when things get nasty hel do just that. And win most battles too

Can he not be registered today if it’s done in time?

I wouldn't think he'd be involved on Sunday anyway, given that he's not been with us at all during preseason.
