Fans of 2 teams singing some songs to each other is tepid compared to fans of clubs in Russia booing black players, throwing bananas at them and now even protesting that their team doesn't sign one.

 

You ever watched Reggie Yates extreme world documentaries? There's one's in Russia where he went along to anti-black protests. Stories were told about black families being lynched in the street, ran out of their homes etc.

 

Might be the case in Britain in the 1960's but sadly this was 21st century Russia.

 

When was the last time you heard of an anti-black or anti-gay protest in Britain? It's still basically taboo to be openly gay in a lot of parts of Russia.

 

Sadly modern day Britain has ant-islamist protests. Not gonna pull the wool over my eyes and say Russia is the only bad place out there, but there's some horrible things you hear coming out of it.

Yes their politics are to the right.

All these countries have a substantial right wing representation .

Shall we examine the USA and theirprison population.

Or examine the attitudes of whites towards blacks in republican areas.

Your generalisation of Russia could be applied to most western countries.

Some of the anti Russian rhetoric has been offensive imo.

I know it's not alone mate, dare I say that surprisingly Britain is perhaps one of the most tolerable multi cultural nations. Didn't think I'd say that but as you say, compared to many things are timid here.

 

My original point was that it was quite sad that following on from Russia putting on a cracking world cup that won the hearts of football fans alike, a story like this had to develop just days after.

Violent bigotry and discrimination are alive and well on the streets of Scotland. Racism and bigotry are still common in Scottish football and even prevalent in our emergency services.

 

Yet Russia is bad because the BBC made a documentary that said so? I'm sorry, but you're just eating what you're being spoon fed while completely ignoring the same issues in Scotland/UK.

And it is a shame because football can have a positive effect on relations with different cultures.

And I watched that Reggie Yates doc as well.

There's a lot of ultra nationalism in Russia.

Totally agree with the sentiment of your post.

The nonsense we heard pre tournament was in some cases offensive.

Boris big mouth forgetting the toll of ww2 on Russian life's .

It's no accident imo the anti Russia agenda.
