Obvious replacement is Pardew. One Glasgow kisser out, one in.

He should have quite football altogether after the headbutt.  That was the ultimate way to end a career.

Such an over hyped incident. Yes, it was assault but ffs it was a wee butt to the chest.

The best bit about that head butt was that he started his career the same way. He got sent off I think in his first game and his then boss told him he’d never make it unless he learned to curb his anger.

A 5 year deal will have a range of clauses including dealing with Real Madrid. So not as a big a barrier as it might seem. Might get some players in return.

Massive shock. I've heard Zidane is a very private man, wouldn't be shocked if this is his last job in the game, even if France came calling. I think Poccetino is a great call, must be a candidate

He's been sacked.  He's not just walked away from the remaining years on his contract

Barely touched him!

In all seriousness, yes it was bad but the way people go on is as if he stabbed him.  Duncan Ferguson and Roy Keane done worse most games.

Wenger?

They've wanted him before and Perez rules the roost there, negotiations would be quick too. Probably be one of their candidates

They might get Bale back though

Doubt it tbh. Bale's potential suitors constitute a drip let alone a small pool of clubs. I'd suspect 3 or 4 at the most able to absorb Bale into their teams.

So here's the merry go round...

Spurs guy goes to Madrid

Brendan Rodgers goes to spurs

Lennon goes to Celtic

Robbie goes to Hibs?

Not a bad way to go out after a hat trick of champions leagues. Will not be short of offers

Wouldn't disagree with that but possibly add Bayern.

Do they have that sort of cash..I honestly don't know?

I think City will be all over it...put him in that team and Bale could well get another Champions League medal.

Italy bound?

Nah, I reckoned he would leave. How do you follow three back-to-back CL wins? Think he'll end up in the France job, take it easy for a while. Or there's always Livi ...

Brendan to Real, surely?

Ah, but I've heard grass grows very quickly in Spain. He's never make it.

I think they do they are a very, very rich club and unlike Madrid not overtly crooked. Although I dare say someone will point to some shadiness by Bayern.

Tottenham have a buy back first  option. While the consensus is they can't afford him a deal as part of their manager going would make sense.

But Bale would have to want to go there and wages could be an issue.

I think if it was between the 4 countries Germany would be his last pick..who knows but someone will be paying 3rd world debt like wages to him!

Sent off in your last ever match which happens to be a World Cup final and you’re captain. Happens all the time right enough ?

Add to that they have to pay for their new ground which is going to financially hamstring them for a couple of years at least (as it did with Arsenal).

I'm not sure....He'll probably ask the green brigade first, they should be able to guide him on world politics and the potential impact on the middle east crisis should he accept a step down to the Madrid gig..

Business Insider (Jan last year) had them as the 4th biggest turnover in the world with £444m.

Of course now ZZ has gone he may stay. Perhaps ZZ was his problem.

Perhaps my wording of the term 'incident' was not clear.
