Decent Champions League this year

Yes, refreshingly so. It's gone so nuts/exhilarating/slapstick/Keystone Cops/unbelievable Jeff in the knockout stages, it bodes very well for the World Cup.

Not a betting man but to be honest Roma must be worth a punt to win the tie. Klopp made a mistake when he took Sahla off and the team made a mistake when the started to showboat.

Not in my book. Liverpool were the better side and won’t lose by 3 over there.

Roma need to show the energy they put on show against Barca, they have the mental belief to go and do it.

As others have said, it will certainly be worth watching now.

They conceded 3 in the second half alone at Sevilla.

Forgetting they scored 3 in the first half ?

I'm confident they will get through but they don't half make you sweat at times

I actually think Liverpool have chucked it.

Roma scored 3 against Barca at home so should do it against a defence containing Dejan Lovren.

I'm sure that the guys on the EFS said that part of Klopp's downfall at Dortmund was that other teams condensed the pitch & not allow space in behind for their high press & counter attack. .

Lack of game management & not having a pirlo / xavi means that they can't control possession as much..

Apart from the fact the first thing Klopp did at Dortmund was to significantly improve their defence making them very hard to beat.  Sound familiar?

you've got me there.. don't know how he started there. just the success & then the slide..

although given that they nearly went bankrupt, then I guess he only improve things.

hope we see a mini me version at Hearts next season..

Indeed.  Both teams proved that it’s about scoring goals, not the Pep tippy tappy.  Thoroughly enjoyed that tonight.

Good enough to romp its way to the Premier League title.

Been to the Albert pub many times, went there after the game in 2012, like the Tynecastle Arms, no bother,

Roma/Italian  fans have a rep for  attacking lone/ small groups of fans,in 1984 many  Liverpool fans told stories of stabbings at the European cup final in that city.

But the champions league is a terrible over commercialised circle jerk for the rich club owners of Europe and is the single worst thing to happen to football!

Thats only gone and produced one of the all time great comebacks  (and another very near comeback ) and then had 7 goals in the first leg of a semi final ..

Is it just me or is that never walk alone stuff just embarrassing now.  Just watching them singing it and cringing.  All trying to look moral and righteous.

Mind you, it is better than my heart was broken, sorrow, sorrow.  What kind of abject dirge is that?

I'll take a wild guess and say if sellik didn't sing the song you would have no issue with it.

Couldn’t give two hoots, it’s eye bleeding to watch.  Same reason I didn’t get a hard on while Spain were winning everything.  Hearts aside, when I watch football I want to be entertained first and foremost and you can’t beat the “score more goals than the other team” approach ahead of the “let’s pass the ball 300 times and try to walk the ball in the net” approach.

No Seymour.  Your wild guess is off the mark.  It's one of those things which had some initial impact for me but then becomes tedious.

The lyrics are far too serious for football and it's done it's dash for me.  I was only vaguely aware that Celtic have copied them for some inexplicable reason.

Just checked and Manchester City have scored 98 goals this season to Liverpool’s 80

Excluding friendlies, Liverpool have scored 122.

Man city have scored 135, though.

Aye beeding?

I've seen some of the best attacking football from Man City this season.

They are great to watch IMO.

Suppose that's what being a footy fan is all about, people have different opinions on style of play.

Too true my friend.  My view of football is that a team throws everything at the keeper when they’re getting beat.  When City were getting beat by Liverpool and United they looked lost and were still playing a passing game and trying to walk it in the net.  I prefer urgency and dare I say it shooting from range to test the keeper.  All about opinions though ?

To be fair, Man City have scored their fair share of absolute rockets this season.  It's not like every goal has been a 6 yard tap in!

Roma yet to concede at home in the CL this season...

I keep hearing this, but I prefer the stat that Liverpool are undefeated in the entire Champions League this season, it's a much more impressive stat, plus Roma have lost 7 games at home in Seria A this season, so they do concede goals at home, and they've probably never faced a strike force at home as potent as Liverpool's, who I'm convinced will score at least once, and probably twice as Roma have to open up, and that plays into Liverpool's hands.

On another note, I'm uber excited after that last night as I won a competition I entered through MasterCard, and I'm off to Kiev with a mate of mine for the final, irrespective of who's playing. Flights, hotels, transfers, match tickets, personal transport to the game from the hotel and back again after it, and spending money, I'm on cloud nine! :D
