Tony McDonald

Like everyone else, I think both Cochrane and McDonald are wonderful prospects and I've not been excited about a young player as much since Craig Gordon.

I was thinking about this previously, but are we the club with the most players to come through our academy playing in the Scottish leagues at this moment in time?  Everywhere you look there are ex players or current players out on loan.

Sorry, probably been asked a million times, but what are Macdonald and Cochrane's contract situations?

both 2020 according to Transfermarkrt.

I think because of how young they are we can't sign them on longer deals yet. Imagine when they turn 17/18 Levein will get them on proper extensions.

Anyone else not liking the ''Tony'' McDonald chat?

Tony's a pretty common nickname for an Anthony. Naturally just what I'd say.

SmashinGlass’ view on Levein playing the kids

In my view he's placing an awful lot of pressure on the shoulders of two kids. Very unfair. Whilst he may believe they have a good deal of potential, by continually getting focus put onto them, he's potentially doing them a lot of damage. The man is an absolute clown.”

They are a strange bunch over on .net.

The way McDonald holds off the St Johnstone player so Djoum can get ahead in the lead up to Mitchell's goal, would not have thought he was 16 at all:

I was led to believe the young lad calls himself Tony.

Outstanding.  Brilliant skill from McDonald to start it off.

The envy and jealousy is seeping out of every pore over there. Probably why they play in green.

I'm sure I've read/heard him being referred to as "Ant" quite a few times by the other players/CL.

I thought it was a new striker when I saw Tony McDonald. If the young man is called Ant or Tony that's fine but until we know I will call him Anthony.

Scott Wilson announced him on as Tony in league game vs St J. Thought it sounded strange at the time

I'm not liking the "Tony" chat at all.  I'm calling him Toni.  Or Tone depending on the mood.

"Yo Toni, what's up?"

"Oh, sad to hear that Tone"

Not jealous at all of our youngsters, nope, no way. No clutching at straws here.

Is this exciting or what.  And bear in mind people who know what's going on at the Oriam and state that the progress of the 13-15 year olds is phenomenal.

Best not to shoot our mouths off but the future looks extremely promising.

Used to play for the university Italian Society (team name Wopsoc in those pre-PC days) and we had 5 Anthony’s in the team. I can advise that the pecking order is as follows:

Anthony

Tony

Ants

Tone

Ant

though our Best Anthony who played for Queens Park styled himself Ants.

we used to run out of the dressing room singing “just one cornetto, give it to me”

Should hand tony and harry the transcript - bedtime reading for the pair of them just prior to the next derby

that'll sort it out ..... infidel breeding scum

if it read something like "hearts continually play and put pressure on their 2 top end prospects but they seem to thrive on it and just get better and better .. makes us shit ourselves at the thought of 2 x 16 year olds taking us apart" - I'd have more respect

  • 2 weeks later...

Been a pleasure working with Anthony after his first team breakthrough. A grounded, pleasant,  hard working lad and a credit to the club and his family. Hope he is with Hearts for the foreseeable future.
