Funny how the Tories and their supporters in the media constantly go on about knife crime in London, blaming Sadiq Khan. When it's West Midlands at the top of the charts.

So after these results and if they transfer over to the GE will the Conservatives start asking for a change in the voting system?

They changed the London Mayor to be FPTP and it didn't help.

In the Sandwell council election, there were 24 seats being contested. Labour won 22 (+5), Tories 1 (-6) and Others 1 (+1).

The full council is now Labour 64, Tories 5 Others 3.

The last mayor election in 2021 saw the first preference votes cast as follows:

BYRNE Liam

Labour and Co-operative
Party
33,045
CAUDWELL Steve Green Party 2,590
DURNELL Pete Reform UK 2,281
STREET Andy The Conservative Party
Candidate
27,890
WILKINSON Jenny Liberal Democrats 1,637

In the London Assembly vote, South West London saw the Tories beaten into 3rd place.
That ward had been Tory since it was created.

Liberal Democrats; Gareth Roberts  66,675
Labour; Marcela Benedetti 50,656
Conservative; Ron Mushiso 49,981

Indeed.  Andy Street talks some sense in interviews and seems to be quite innovative.  Doesn't come across as a Tory at all.

If it looks like the will be out of power for a while then they'll change it to some form of PR so they can actually have influence.

De Mail in De Nile

Tories get absolutely destroyed up and down the nation and their front page is Angela Raynor (again) and a "poll boost" for the unelected head of state, who doesn't need to give a shite about popularity

Well really there's loads of positives. Under 500 seats loss. Won 30 seats more than lost. Less worse than 1996. Tees Valley. Some good individual results. No challenge to Rishi.

Mark Harper says its heading to a hung Parliament too. So there you go.

Braverman reckons Sunak needs to do stuff that has more relevance to people.

What a genius new idea.  Stuff that isn't pointless culture wars.  It's almost as if that Rwanda stuff was a waste of time and money.

The brave face of the Conservatives is facing some uncommon facts.

It is the worst result since 1996 for councils. They did worse in the councils where they were strongest. Vote Leave areas had the biggest swings to Labour. Tactical anti Tory voting is a thing. And Reform hurts Conservative candidates badly.

Overall vote share at 25% is a decline since Sinak started in office.

Not great.

Unlikely. What is the cost of a boat trip from people smugglers to Blighty?

More like on his way to somewhere back into the open door EU.

They do still have advisors in No 10, right? Or maybe they could run their flagship policies past the cleaning staff or Larry the car for a double-check.
