The notion of a club with the 'traditions' and world view of them being acceptable would be laughed out of town. Celtic are a bunch of slags too, but the difference is that there's actually a reasonable number of Celtic fans who don't subscribe the the nasty stuff some of them get involved with. For example, how often do you get widespread sectarian singing at Celtic Park? Basically never in the modern era. At Ibrox it is commonplace as their support is basically rammed full of bigots and socially undesirable types. You also get protestant Celtic supporters. I know quite a few. It's not all that uncommon in the west. Rangers are a much more exclusive bunch. They are basically a club that exists to hate things. Anything that is not like them. Celtic make any right minded person sick with their hysterical myth-building and paranoia, but as a club they don't have the same kind of top to bottom nastiness of Rangers. The rest of the fans of Scottish teams will either: 1) Hate Rangers and Celtic equally 2) Hate Rangers and their own rivals equally 3) Hate Celtic and their own rivals equally As our support is next biggest, a true picture of who we hate most would go some way to answering the question. Traditionally it would be Celtic, but that has changed for a lot of people since the truth of what Rangers were doing all these years in secret came out. For many Hearts fans the answer is now 1 or 2. Aberdeen are next biggest and their support you would naturally expect to be answer 2. Next is Hibs and they are definitely 2, some 1s but overwhelmingly 2s from my observations. Most other teams in Scotland probably hate both as much as the other with a few notable exceptions, where parts of the country have a big team and wee team philosophy. A good few of their fans that I have met over the years have been reasonable decent lads however; the clear majority that I have met have been uneducated, bigoted, socially undesirable mutants that you wouldnt want to share air with. Stranger still are the ones who seem decent & normal (full time job, house & car, family etc) until you mention football & then they start going on about fenion bead rattlers etc. Complete welts to a man. I only make the distinction because I think it's important to note that the whole club is poisonous from the roots up and at every single level from board to supporter and everything in between. The players are probably the least toxic thing about them but even then they seem to attract some pretty terrible human beings with an appropriately appalling Rangers mindset. They're a truly horrible institution with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Founded on hate and sustained by hate too. Specialists in scummy behaviour, bigotry, violence and completely incapable of ever acknowledging their own faults or of acting with any sort of dignity. They refuse to accept blame for anything they do and even worse, either try to point the finger elsewhere or simply shrug it off with some sort of ridiculous defence involving WATP or misplaced superiority and comfort themselves in the belief they deserve special treatment because "Establishment club". Depressingly, they often actually get and benefit from that special treatment too. The lack of self-awareness is breathtaking. Awful, odious club supported by awful odious (and often seriously thick) people. There's few things more repulsive than stupid and bigoted people with a misplaced sense of invincibility and self-importance. Breathe. I don't like Rangers very much. You have missed the point. The question was about Scotland as a whole not just Hearts fans. The thing about the OF is that all non Rangers fans dislike the Rangers the most and all non Celtic fans dislike them as well. I very strongly suspect that Celtic would have behaved in exactly the same way if they found themselves in the same boat, but since they didn't Rangers edge it for now. The Don Posted September 26, 2016 Share Posted September 26, 2016 If they aren't Hearts I dislike them, my dislike for the OF and Hibs however is far more than any other team, never used to be the case I used to dislike the OF way more then the vermin, however their deliberate attempt to sabotage our CVA and support they had for us going down the tubes surpassed any friendly rivalry. I'd go as far to say I might even dislike the vermin more now. The OF are the OF in my lifetime it has never changed and it was the same in my fathers lifetime and it will be the same in my childrens lifetime. The only way to stop the OF dominance is not to match them pound for pound but complete change in Scottish football and complete overhaul at the SFA and SPFL, get rid of the yes men and OF arse crawlers and Scottish football might stand a chance.
