Pretty sure like most young players he would liked to have furthered his career and moved on,i fear this is why he signed new contract as this

could prove to be a recurring problem for him.

I think we can safely rule out ever getting a 'big fee' for Walker, this is going to sadly end up another Andy Driver scenario.

Said it before I think he is our modern day Andy Driver in terms of got the talent could go far but going to be stuck with niggling injuries blighting his career. I hope he can get over it and still have a good career

Careful management needed. That would maybe include not leaving him on the pitch when he is clearly hanging out his arse!

He must not be played at any level, the team would be effectively playing with 10 men.Send him back for an other operation and make sure it Is fixed, tough enough without playing with a handicap.

By the sounds of it he has an issue with his patella tendon (I may be wrong) which is just behind the kneecap,if there is an imbalance in the muscles around the joint  then this can cause the tendon to swell and rub against the back of the  knee cap, I reckon the operation was to shave some of the bone off his knee cap to try stop the two rubbing together and causing discomfort and pain. I have suffered from this in the past myself and I have found that certain surfaces make it flair up more than others as some of them put more strain on your knee's than others, for example  the pitches at World of Football are fine for me but the Saughton astro makes my knee flare up.

Possibly training on the all weather pitch at Riccarton is not helping.

Not good ... It's clearly not going to heal itself.. I wonder if they even genuinely know what's wrong

A real shame.

We all know he`s a talented player and a key one for us. Last season he was hobbling through a few games but still having an influence playing alongside Sow.

May never fill his potential but perversely it may turn out ok for us if the injury is nursed through the years and he manages to keep playing.

I like Jamie as a player but if he is carrying any sort of injury why is he starting games.

It was maybe a harshly worded statement but have heard as well that the boy really is struggling and frustration is at breaking point for him.

Close to quitting the game completely I hear.

The beginning of the end for his career perhaps.

A real shame given the positivity around the operation last time. I can't see him ever fully recovering, and that knee will always be troublesome.

Always thought he lacked stamina in games but perhaps its all down to his niggly knee.

Great potential but never going to get where he could have.

I hope Jamie recovers. He looked well short of his peak performance (as did others) on Thursday but the signs don't look good for the future. If he's still experiencing pain, his body will be holding him back from playing at 100% We can't afford to risk Jamie's or the teams performance until there is no more pain associated with this condition.

Actually season holder for 22 years.

He's had the same injury problem for 2 years. Will never be 100% & will miss half this season too. He should be our best asset but unfortunately he's has a problem that can't be solved which stems back to when he was born. Not the lads fault he's the new Andrew Driver.

Less of the hobo crap

Wouldn't suprise me, if his knee is as bad as it sounds he would be better off effectively skipping a season and just focus on healing it and getting better similarly to way Gordon has. Repeatedly rushing him back to the first team as soon as there's a hint of fitness then breaking down again is the same stupid routine we did with Driver.

Would have thought Levein of all people would realise that given the way his own career ended.

Pushing him to come back quickly. Not listening to him saying that he is in pain.

I think he will quit the game to be honest

So they aint bothered about his knee and are forcing him against his will to play?

Bazzas right boot

Could be a blessing in disguise, might stay with us his whole career.

Real shame, hopefully it clears up so he can at least continue playing, if not get his big move.

Whilst I hope I am wrong big time, this update from Jamie and a look at his situation over the last 12-15 months injury wise dont bode well as others have suggested...hope we are all wrong big time I must add though....

Why is he playing then? Get it fixed, or try to. If it means he misses a season, so be it.

That is a shame but perhaps explains why he has been a shadow of the player we saw before since returning.

As others have said it would be better to deal with this rather than continue to play an injured player.

It's a shame but we should manage him carefully to extend his career as long as possible. Whether it means he doesn't train as much or only starts 15-20 games a season I don't know but he's a good player, an important one and maybe we need to give him special treatment to get the best out of him. A bit like Ledley King at Spurs although his injury was significantly more serious.

Personally, my opinion is that we require 2 new wingers to compete with and possibly replace walker and Nicholson. That has been my view since around Feb/march

If an injury is what is preventing Jamie walker from being a player who can consistently make an impact for us, then unfortunately there is not a lot of room for sympathy - players in his position need to create and score goals, something we were really struggling with towards the end of last season and in Thursday's game.

But we know he can do the business when his mind is in the right place - once he gets into a routine hopefully things will settle in that knee so he can focus on the job in hand. Still think we need new competition in that area though.

Exactly. Why have we got physios a club doctor a fitness coach etc? Robbie said he did not play him toards the end of last season to give him as decent rest to try and get him back fully fit.

It would appear that it has not worked so unless the specialist has said he can expect a bit of pain and it is ok to play through that without causing any further damage then he should be given more time to fully recover.

It would appear that Walker is fast becoming the new driver with less pace. It could be that a lot of his issues are just in his head as often happens with players when they have been plagued with injuries.

So all the more reason to be looking for a replacement asap.

Sad if that is the case and does sound very like Andrew Driver.

I do say that if it requires time for it to heal, we should rest him and get whatever needs done, and get a winger in on loan while he is out.

My brother had the same issue. It meant he had to stop playing competitive football for about 3-4 years. When he came back he had to take it easy for a while. It sound like Jamie has played through the pain when he should have rested, but I don't think this will be career ending. He might need more rest games than others, and might need to play for 60 minutes rather than 90 (in the way Sow did when folk on here were calling him a crock and a wage thief), but I think it is something he will get through.

It looks like a journo has said to Jamie, "how's the knee, Jamie?" and he has said, "Ah well, you know, still a bit sore and that, hopefully  better soon..." and the journo has written an article on it. Most pros will play with a certain degree of pain. Maybe Jamie is just figuring out whether what he is feeling is normal or not?

Driver is currently playing at a far higher level than Hearts and is fitter than many in the Hearts squad. With the best possible treatment and rehab being made available to Jamie he should be able to play 100%.
