The force were known to have been called to a fight involving about 20 rival supporters in McLeod Street, Edinburgh, on Saturday January 16. Following reports of a disturbance, Police Scotland have undertook days of action to target offenders under Operation Rebound. This week officers from Police Scotland's football co-ordination unit arrested and charged eight Motherwell fans in connection with the incident. This is in addition to the arrests made earlier this year of eight Hearts fans. The 8 males including one juvenile ranged in age from 15 to 51, are all from the Motherwell area. Seven of the men have been released on specific bail conditions preventing them from attending football matches and will appear at court in April in relation to the charges. A juvenile has been reported to the children's reporter. Inspector Emma Croft, who is based at St Leonards, said: ?As part of our ongoing commitment to tackle fan disorder, Police Scotland has been working closely with Hearts FC to identify and address a group of individuals who bring disorder and criminality to the doors of what is a family friendly club. ?These arrests stand to reinforce our previous message that such behaviour will not be tolerated and we will work tirelessly to trace those involved in violence and criminality. ?Sixteen individuals are now unable to attend a football match for the foreseeable future as a result of this incident. ?Operation Rebound continues to address football related violence in Edinburgh and we will work alongside all related football clubs to ensure anyone responsible for fan disorder is held to account." Think police report says they were Motherwell? Also thought Killie just got off bus and started on our fans rather than anything organised? I watched the Motherwell 'fighting' and it was two sets of scruffs trying to play Green Street. Not one sided in the slightest although some in here are adamant this was the case. A guy I know was walking down McLeod Street with his son when one of them ran up and hit him, I find it hard to believe there are many people out there who would sit back and not get involved in a situation like that. Good luck with that. There have been many complaints made over many years at Tynecastle esp. when the demons de hooped hit town......not much done as far as I could see. Not necessarily blaming the old bill here....the club are going in the right direction by cutting the OF's allocations. Any chicanery and they could, and maybe should, go further...imo ! As for the Killie incidents, I was walking down MacLeod St about 5 minutes before kickoff and half a dozen idiots were running around challenging people and being generally aggressive.
