That's what I was thinking, is Big Andy getting the roof chopped off so he can fit his huge napper?

My all time classic would be a MGB GT.

Lovely motors.

MK 1 Escort Mexico or RS2000 - very nice.

Mk 2 Escort RS2000 - very nice.

Capri 3000 or 2.8 injection - very nice.

Don't like MGB GT other than the V8 version.

If your wallet can run to it, why not consider a Triumph TR6 or Triumph Stag?

Taylor mate, I regard it as a mid life crisis car, but in all honesty, I've wanted one since I was a wee boy. My old man had an RS2000 Orange Escort when I was a wee boy, and I fell in love with Escorts then.

The other one I fancy is an Escort Cosworth, but dunno if I'd get away with it.

What ya think?

A bit more Chav IMO, but I still like them.

Chav ones are the 1300cc Escorts modded to look like a Cossie. It's a bit like people who buy a BMW 520i and stick an "M" badge on the boot. Hilarious and rather sad.

Yeah I know, the real one's are the Shiz Niz.

Think I'm sticking to the RS2000 though, any others would just make me wonder 'What if I'd got the RS'.

Mind you I might say that about the Mexico once I buy the RS. I'm one confused puppy at this point. ;)

Mexico is a lower specced model than the RS2000 so you shouldn't be disappointed.

I know mate, well when it comes to engine size, however the Mexico edge's it for me with the looks.

Incidentally, how old are you? Interested to know see as you seem to know a lot about the same sort of stuff that I'm into.

Except all the sectarian nonsense though that is. ;)

It's a bit too chav for my liking but it reminds of the car my friends older brother used to drive when I was in primary. So for the same reasons as you feel a sort of draw to it for nostalgia purposes as its the sort of car we would say we wanted when we were older.

Still, think the first pic you posted looks the biz.

Not getting it for a few months

Does your missus plan that far in advance?

The first car I owned was an orange Mk2 Escort. Even for being a base model it was a great car. The RS2000 was and still is a seriously great car (as long as it hasn't been chavied up).

I also had a Mk5 Cortina. A bit of a rank car IMO.

The best Capri is the 3litre sport but that car is a bit twichy and too easy to put into a wall/ditch.

The best car I have owned was an Audi Coupe. If I had the money I would definetly consider getting a Quatrro.

Get one of these, VR6 is a future classic and quite rare due to the majority being written off

Maybe not quite as desirable yet, but a seriously fast car, which will only increase in value and desirability

Must say Prancer your taste in cars are amazing, the 2 cas you have mentioned on your posts are great cars.

The Corrado is a great car and is always good when you see 1 that is looked after as they are very rare to see.

As for the mkI golf, another cracking car but my friend had a mkII oak green vw golf gti and i think the mkII is the best golf to have come out but the oak green colour was amazing in this model off car.

Brian Whittaker's Tache

The RS and the Mex are both the cats tits!

Surprised you all think the mid-life crisis begins at 34. The new mid-life begins at 50 and next 51 and 52 the year after etc. Get yourself a nice sensible car, a Toyota Corolla springs to mind. Easy to get in and out of, good fuel consumption, therefore eco-friendly and it comes in a nice range of smart colours. That one in the picture is very shiny but would take up most of my Sunday polishing the shiny bits.

Never knew you were a fan of the "old skool" Escorts Andy! :)

MK1's are going for a few quid these days (Especially the RS models).

Escort Cossies are still pretty dear for what they are, great cars though (if you get a good one)

I just bought this at the weekend. Did a deal with a Cossie powered MK2 Escort that I had (but never got round to finishing!)

No doubt some people think these are "chav" too. Personally, couldn't give a toss. If you like the car, Andy, buy it. Don't worry about what others think - especially when it comes to cars! :dribble:

That looks the Dugs dangly bits Rodge. Bloody typical that you took a photo of it straight away. Have you ever not got a camera in your hand.

I haven't actually purchased the car mate, it will be getting bought in approx 3 months, thats just a photo of one that I would like.

Be looking for something along the lines of 2ltr, but I think the Mexico's were only made with 1600 engine's, so will need to get a modified one. I actually think I'm going to go for a RS2000, as thats the one I really want. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Been looking at the classic cars magazine's for a few months now, and am getting an idea for price etc etc.

Aye, no problem

Mexico's only had 1600 engines but a far few will have been converted to 2 litres and 5 speed box by now anyway (easy conversion) - in fact it's probably harder to find an Escort which hasn't been modified these days!

You might want to take a look at this forum:

:)

Also Turbosport has an Escort section

For those that mentioned the Mustang, Charger and Challenger, they're all nice cars, but they're american dragsters.

Drive one of them fast on a windy Scottish road, and the first time you try to go round a corner you'll have several tons of Dee-troit iron telling you it's going nowhere but straight ahead.

Anyway, if you want a muscle car, the 2008 Corvette is the way to go:
