Anybody know much about pensions ?

My company pension group is asking if i want to change all future payments

into the new default Balanced Pension Approach which i understand takes

less investment risk with a calculated safety net .

Is it worth changing and why so much caution from my pension group ?

I work in pensions, and we changed our default investment recently too - nothing to do with being cautious or anything, just the company introducing a new default that's more in keeping with what people want from their pension these days.

The default is usually something middle of the road, ie. not too cautious and not too adventurous...in fact let's just call it 'Balanced' :P;)

Does the scheme not offer you the services of a financial adviser in relation to such matters. It might not be in your interest to change your present investment portfolio, things like age etc. should be taken into account, some funds growth potential is based on investment being over a large number of years rather than a relatively short term period of investment.

I would advise you to get in touch with a fully qualified financial advisor mate.

Beware of employers changing pension arrangements they'll be looking after No 1. Get an IFA.
