This is a bit mental. When the exit poll came out, the numbers seemed a bit extreme but the swing to snp shows 58 seats are a real possibility.

Uk politics has to change drastically after this.

Hope Cameron's first piece of legislation is FFA for Scotland. Looking forward to see how Swinney makes up his budget for that one.

As much as it will hurt Scotland, I want the same to happen. SNP need to find out the hard way that we get a good deal in the UK currently. Scotland can then get pulled back in to the UK once the SNP fails to deliver. Pleased with the exit poll and hope Tories can get a majority.

Minority government

Minority and DUP/someone else seeing them over the line.

Difficult to see how he could get a Tory Queen's Speech through. Interesting times.

Amazing scenes tonight, reminds me of '97 when you see wave after wave of new MP looking quite stunned at what they have just achieved.

Clearly the main swing is from Labour to SNP and, to a lesser extent Lib Dem to SNP. Conservative vote has pretty much held.

Obviously a significant swing to the SNP was expected, but not on this level.

To what level is this a protest vote, as opposed to a permanent change of allegiance? Is this Labour supporters saying they want a change in their Labour Party, or have they deserted forever?

Going to be a very interesting year before the next Holyrood election...Can Scottish Labour rebuild from the ground up, who knows?

Only 323 needed for that...if they get 316 then I am sure it will be done...either that or we all go to the polls again...

DUP won't vote down a Tory bill, so that's another 8 the anti-tories need.

England's heading further to the right and into an EU exit and isolationism.

The Union is messed.

I'm still stunned at the SNP winning in East Lothian.

It's been Labour for all my life and probably before I was born too.

The ref result was around 62% No.

Why are they not voting Labour?

SNP winning without 'fear or favour' now where have I heard that before?

Difference is, we mean it.

I think the Lib Dem experience might frighten anyone off from supporting them except maybe Northern ireland MP's. Another election though, perish the thought.

I was at School with Fiona. Her and Charles Kennedy were contemporaries.

Darling's former seat.

I thought he was Edinburgh Central. Edinburgh SW (or Pentlands) was Malcolm Rifkind's until '97

I want the UK to realise they are lucky to have us and if they don't then goodbye.

If the rest of the Uk is stupid enough to vote Tory to stop the SNP then it says it all.

Cannabis is Safer Than Alcohol Party seem quite quiet at the counts. Have they all gone to the all-night garage for some crisps?
