Did my 20th wedding anniversary weekend in Ulster, stayed in Culloden Castle Hotel.

England and Spain stayed there when playing NI, wonder if the JTs will use it-top notch hotel looks onto Belfast Lough.

Two of us heading over.

For the Hearts game and some socialising.

Not going anywhere near the marching if at all possible.

Would go, but all this chronic marching orange bollox seems a bit dodgy to me. Bunch of halwitted clowns wearing sashs. Only time I wnat to be near an event like that is oggling the birds at Miss World.

Loads of blokes wearing uniforms and sashs? sounds a bit gay if you ask me. Latant homo alert.

I'm working on the basis that they won't be marching through any pubs, so I shouldn't see them.

You will have to go out of your way to see the Orange Parades. Remember, the vast majority of people these days don't take part or watch.

It will pass within the vicinity of Jurys/Europa/Renshaws but not directly past it.

The Days Inn on the other hand is slap bang in the middle of Rangers/Linfield loyal Sandy Row and will be in full OrangeFest mode.

East Belfast, home of the Glens will have a number of lodges march along the Newtownards Road to join up with the main parade, but other than some bunting and a few pubs, there isn't a massive fuss made these days.

Stormont/Culloden/Hilton Belfast/Park Avenue* Hotels will be no where near the parades.

*Closest hotel to the Oval, and a five minute taxi ride from the city centre.

The George Best City airports flightpath is directly over the Oval.

The International Airport is near Antrim and is about 20 miles away from Belfast.

Check out http://www.glentoran.com for other travelling info.

The loose and crude comparisons between Scottish and Northern Irish Football would be in terms of history and supporter background;

Rangers=Linfield, Celtic=Belfast Celtic (defunct since 1949), Hearts=Glentoran and Hibs=Cliftonville.

Religion is not a factor at Glentoran, never has been, despite the fact the club are based in an overwhelming Protestant/Loyalist area.

Just booked up. Fly out Monday and back Wednesday for ?9.98 each. Seems a bit steep considering I'm going a month earlier for 2 pence each return.

I have however lost my passport, its got be somewhere in the house as it's been a long time since I needed to take a passport out to get into clubs (or discos as they were known at the time).

Space in the car for 2 to Prestwick on the Monday if anyones needing a lift although I should warn you that I only passed my test a month ago and I am still in my man racer phase!

You still got room for 2? Me and wifey will take you up on it for the return journey if you,re coming back Tues.

:)

Will pay petrol of course.

:)

ULSTER JAMES
UJ,

How long does it take to get from Belfast to Scarva by car, roughly, and what time is the RBP parade scheduled to start.

cheers Cyber for posting the info on

as mentioned the crowds are vast, particularly for such a small place-i can't be bothered with the traffic anymore but it is worth going for the day out if anyone is visiting
