Suspensions

Been reading a few times this week about various players in the SPL "walking a suspension tight rope" for next season.

IMO this is utter nonsense. A new season should be treated as such and disciplinary points should not be carried over. Managers are having to think about fielding weakened sides at the end of this season so they don't have key players missing at the start of next.

It's short changing the fans, and making our complete shambles of a league an even bigger disgrace.

When is anyone going to take proper charge of the SPL and give the fans what they want?

Said a similar thing about the guy from zenit( can't remember his name) missing the final against rangers. Anything less than a red for violent conduct, IMHO should be wiped at the end of the semi's, in all comps, and at the end of each season.

Yep.

Costacurta missed a European Cup Final and World Cup Final in quick succession due to suspensions.

When you see the Zenit player's booking too. He's out the final because of that.

I think the best and fairest thing to do is to wipe clean the disciplinary record after the first semi-final leg but before the second. That means only a red card means they should miss the final because if you just have it for violent conduct it could mean someone who get sent off for a professional foul, because of which he has helped his team win, and then make the final himself.

Though I agree as many good players as possible should play in finals. They build them up as these massive spectacles so the best players should be playing.

The real Walter Kidd once told me that yellow cards are cleared at the end of the season and everyone starts with a clean slate. However if you go over the points threshold your suspension will carry over.
