His nomination for Speedway centres round the amount of work he does for the Edinburgh Monarchs which includes the following: PRESS OFFICER - Since 1977 Mike has single handedly released all stories regarding the Edinburgh Monarchs to the media. PROGRAMME EDITOR - Since 1978 he has produced one of the best match magazines in Speedway winning the programme of the year on a couple of occasions. HOME FAN - He has not missed a Monarchs home match since 1982 - this due to his only ever non-Speedway holiday! AWAY FAN - He has only missed 6 matches since 1977, an amazing achievement given that Edinburgh have had to travel (as a non-driver!) to Norfolk, Poole, Exeter and the Isle of Wight most seasons! CLUB SAVIOUR - In 1991 he built a fighting fund which raised 17k at at a first night fans rally to keep the club alive as crippling debts were forcing closure within 48 hours. GRAND DRAW - Another idea was a weekly club lottery started in 1993, this is still going today and has raised over ?140,000 for the club! He still runs it every week with around 500 members. VIDEOS - Another arm of his dedication is the time he uses to produce and editor match videos of every home meeting since 1983. Again all profits go to the Speedway! ALL OF THIS ACHIEVED WHILST ALSO HAVING A HEARTS SEASON TICKET!! All of the above has seen Mike win the Male award for over 16s and a UK sporting trip to the value of ?1,000. If he were to win the main award this would see a ?10k worldwide trip of a lifetime come his way! I'd be very grateful if you guys could take 5mins out to vote using the link below!
