Edit: Apparently his dad is catholic and his daughter was baptised  How the feck did they ever expect to get a conviction ? Useless twats.

If that's true then the decision to make it a sectarian offence is baffling.

Also, i'm delighted to know that its acceptable to dislike lennon 'cause he's a ***** and not because he's irish catholic.

Free Jungle! Classic. Idiot or not, he deserves a pat on the back. Should make the home game against Celtic in a few weeks a bit tastier ...

Fecking brilliant news and it shows up the politicians and Crown Office for the bunch of useless arseholes that they are.

To try and get a conviction on one uncorroborated claim by a guy who had 16,000 people shouting all around him was utter lunacy in the first place. There's no doubt that COPFS have been rail-roaded into this by the politicians but common sense should have won the day.

If they'd just done him for stright-forward assualt and breach the jury would have found him guilty in 5 seconds flat.

i think if that was all he was charged with he would have pleaded guilty and would have saved public money and not wasted court time

Why is he still in custody ?

I cannot think of any breach of the peace term exceeding 3 months in prison -- this is being politically motivated for show.

Given the verdict he should have been released immediately.

It said he was remanded pending sentence which i think it said tomorrow OJ Simpsons Lawyer could not have got a better result for him, he is however banned from Tynecastle for life so away fixtures only from now on i guess for him.

just shows you how much pressure was put on them from politicians who wanted him hung out on the sectarian charge,as i said earlier on this thread if the politicians are that desperate to hang out a few fans over sectarian issues why not go for those fans who have got banning orders this season from both celtic and rangers

Hagar the Horrible

I wonder how ra thellik PR machine will make of this, and i makes a liar out of the steward who said he heard the F word being used

He must take the blame for the whole thing going pete tong as a simple asault charge would have seen him jailed.

I cant wait for Lemmon to return to Tynie with his thellik side

Good result. The man has been put through enough.

I think it would have been stupid to convict him of something if he hasn't physicaly commited that crime, unless ofcourse he is on the process of doing so.

Good result for the Jungle John

I've always wondered how this can be enforced.

Personally, they could ban me, but I'd still find a way of getting into Tynecastle, by hook or by crook.

Excellent idea. Even better have him run upto the Celtic end in the Harty Harry outfit, give them some abuse, them reveal his identity once he is back at the halfway line.

"In other news, Herschel Rosenblatstein-Horowitz is being tried for being a Nazi. Rosenblatstein-Horowitz was arrested on Friday evening having left some sort of religious building. A spokesman for the Procurator Fiscal said, "I've got a good feeling about this one. There's just something about that silly little cap he wears over his skull that just screams National Socialist, dontcha think?(cont. p94)"

Not really. Because his testimony was not corroborated by anyone else the jury would not have been able to consider it as evidence.

Which makes the decision to press ahead with the charge when the prosecution had NO corroborated evidence of sectarian comments utterly ridiculous.

A total and utter farce.

Mr Romanov Saviour of HMFC

So he served about 4 months and is banned from Tynecastle for life for touching Lennon up?

What punishment is Lennon getting for inciting the crowd and kicking him in the face while he was down?

Romanov Stole My Pension

John Wilson is no doubt a complete dafty who'll have cost Hearts tens of thousands of pounds through lost ticket sales in the lower sections of Tynecastle this season, but I'm very happy with today's outcome. It was ridiculous to try to bring sectarian charges into it, and I think we all knew it was only a case of pandering to the huge furore about sectarianism just now.

I hope the tims are gutted.

Is that Alan Thompson I see on the field of play? Without the referee's permission?

Surely the referee's report should have mentioned that to give him the coaching teams' equivalent of a yellow card.

Oh...and maybe the PF could have had a look at the assault on the prostrate Wilson.

An appalling decision to put a person with learning difficulties in jail for 3 months for what amounted to breach of the peace. Even worse was the unseemly foaming at the mouth of the victims and the politicians to make this some sort of show trial.

I'm glad the sellik fans are seething, because maybe now the penny will finally click that they are the biggest part of the problem here, and for them to hide their own bigotry and sectarian hatred under "wur traditions" whilst simultaneously playing the victim card at each and every opportunity is NOT on.

For any sellik fans that can actually read, and are sitting hypocritically muttering "orange this" and "orange that" whilst still claiming some moral high ground, I've fired up the seethe cannon just for you.

Gods honest truth here. I just picked my lad up from Celtics training ground in Lennoxtown, and drove past Mr Lennon leaving about an hour ago. I so wished I had known the verdict of this before I passed him.

I'm glad to see the Jury saw sense and didn't bow to the pressure that must have been on them to secure a conviction.

I wonder if any members of the jury had to declare if they were Hearts fans or hadn't heard of the tosser that is Neil Lennon before being selected to do their duty. :whistling: :whistling: :whistling:

I thought Hearts were considering reducing their allocation anyway? was this not due to the policing/stewarding problems they've had with them over the last few games, not to mention the kiosks getting looted at every opportunity.

there was an operation carried out at the last game verses celtic after many disturbances within the visiting supporters section, including the assult of catering staff and theft of cash from the bookies and catering units, as well as fighting between police/stewards and visiting supporters, also undercover operations where carried out with the prospect of catching visiting supporters carrying out sectarian chanting.

all this has lead to hearts reducing the capacity of the Roseburn stand for the visit of Celtic and only allowing season ticket holders entry to lower section N of the main stand.

Well now would be a good time for Hearts to reiterate their view on the allocation to their filthy support, state exactly why, release photos of the damage they cause every time they visit, and the cost of rectifying the damage.

Stop making it so easy for the filth to get the ear of the press all their own way Hearts!

Exactly but, hey, lump it onto the Wilson boy.The allocation reduction was coming IMO because of the hooped demons' behaviour in more than the "tipping point" game.

Unbelievable that someone at the Procurator Fiscal's office thought there was a case there for the sectarianism charge. You do wonder if the charge was politically driven as no prosecutor in this country would have gone with those charges...Absolute waste of taxpayers money. Just as much so as the trams! What do the useless people who run this country need to eff up in order to get sacked?
