Spurs will finish in the top 6 of the richest league in the world this season. Hearts will be delighted with finishing 3rd in a league that compares with leagues in Albania, Lithuania & Ireland 4. Spurs have some of the worlds top players at their disposal and by the looks of Andros Townsend, some of the top young talent 5. Spurs have players who are used to playing in the worlds top stadiums and competitions. Hearts clearly don't. However.............We take this on the chin and support the players big time because they will need it. But whether an experience is good or bad you try to learn from both, and if as a result you improve that is all we can ask for. In the SPL we will never, ever, play against a side who have any hope of reaching that level. If we can develop a style and a side who can improve in the SPL we can think about moving up to any next level.

I suppose that IF as you suggest at the end of your post, the players learn from this and improve it might make the embarrassment of last night slightly easier to live with. Plenty aren't over-reacting but probably, like me, will spend more time away from here over the next few days because we can't be bothered trawling through pages of over-reaction. It's the way of JKB and I guess the way of internet forums in general. Eventually folk will get over it, this place will get back to normal and who knows, maybe in a couple of months Spurs will beat someone 6-0 in the EPL and the penny might drop for one or two. Us sensible posters would resurrect a new forum from JKB's burning embers and would install a spack filter. We could then conduct our conversations in a sane and rational manner. Or we could just meet up and have a chat. A phonebox would be a likely venue...

Hilary Briss
Agree with OP, anybody who expected us to compete with spurs is clueless. All the threads on players being not good enough after thursdays game are a joke. The thing is, most of my mates and guys I spoke to after game thought we could of been better but fully expected to get beat due to spurs being total quality. Just goes to show the amount of trumpets on here. IMO sundays game is more important. Thats where to judge our players and I will be more pissed off than anybody if we get beat. Hopefully we beat them and we can shut up these mugs from leith, who seem to have forgotton all about last weekend.

Agreed losing to Spurs is no biggy as we are a poor team playing in a mickey mouse league but I can't accept that is why we lost so embarrasingly Wee teams all over the world put up fighting performances against bigger teams and usually lose but occasionally pull off a shock How many teams lose 5-0 at home however good the opposition? Our non performance on Thursday was a disgrace - we could have lost 10-0 It was all about Hearts performance and not how good Spurs were imo Whether it was down to the players, the manager, the coaches, the owner or a combination of them all it was not acceptable Sacking JJ 2 weeks into the season was a ridiculous decision and the turmoil behind the scenes MUST have had an impact and a thought for all the bandwagon jumpers who now hate the "long ball game" and think Paulo will have us playing silky and successful football - we have hardly won a match since Kevin Kyle got injured....
