Charlie-Brown
I've checked Killie's last appearance in European Competition was a defeat to Viking in the 2001-02 UEFA Cup. Finishing a run of 4 European qualifications in five years That was on the 27th of september 2001 Jefferies took the reigns at Rugby park five months later on the 28th Februaruy 2002 So you were bang on the money Coco's still got a point about SPL Experience Last week we had a reasonable idea about what to expect, a "safe pair of hands" managing the club with some old fashioned yet proven ideas. Now all of a sudden all bets are off, This could go really, really well but it could well be an unmitigated disaster. I quite like that uncertainty This season suddenly looks a lot more interesting After the cup win of 1998 that is what we thought yet look how 1998-99 turned out (horrific until a vital upturn at the end) yet the following season some sense of normalcy was returned. Coco
Wait a minute. There has been a stat floating around on here which says that Sergio won two thirds of his twenty or so games as manager. Were more than half of his games at Lisbon in the Europa League? How many games was he actually manager at Sporting?
vintage1874
Why ? He's not saying we are going to be number 1 he's saying he would like us to try and push ourselves more to challenge for number 1.Putting in a challege doesn't mean push the old firm for a little then fall away. Why ? He's not saying we are going to be number 1 he's saying he would like us to try and push ourselves more to challenge for number 1.Putting in a challege doesn't mean push the old firm for a little then fall away. I see what you are saying, but still think its a brave statement Has the board set him any targets? Be the best, be No. 1 Surely that implies the owners are targeting Hearts win the spl. Why should we accept top 6 or third place as success? Look att he debt 2nd place brought the last time, we'd have to invest a lot more in the team. Rangers have already spent 3 million this summer all our signings are frees/ You said Putting in a challege doesn't mean push the old firm for a little then fall away, last jan we should have invested in the team but we never, last time in europe needed a striker did n't get one. Why will things change now? We've heard all this before champions league, will be bigger than the OF etc etc. Words are easy, you could argue we are 6-8 decent players away from putting in a season long challenge. Us Hearts fans are not stupid wheres the money coming from? Sergio is a football manager not a magician.

wright1989
JJ has more European competition experience than Sergio despite what Fedatovas says. JJ has also more experience in the SPL/cup competitions than Sergio. JJ of course has less experience in the Portugese league though. Just a pity he doesn't have the ability.
