No ambition

Take the easy life at Rangers and the Scotland place instead of testing yourself in a bigger league.

So wait the now...Rangers are willing to spunk 26K a week over 6 years but not splash out 2million for Goodwillie? Hmmmmm......

He'll be gone with the next decent offer comes in for him.

More posturing from the Rangers new owners - it is a wage they cant afford, and they'll be assuming it will help to bump up his price.

Good grief! We should be glad though; he's never worth that amount. Hopefully no English club goes near him now, and Rangers are forced to pay him for the whole 6 years :)

Otherwise there might be a ?50,000 offer for Kello coming our way :lol:

Bumps his price up. No danger they're keeping him with a contract that long and that lucrative.

In this Market of course he is, Kevin Nolan just went to the championship on 50k per week, I would suspect if he was in prem the lowest paid first choice goalie in the league would be on more than that...

All rangers have done is ensure they get a fee

McGregor benefiting from Rangers failure to make any other signings of note I reckon. Keep the bears quiet for a week or two.

Rangers might not get a fee if people think he's on a long term deal and the costs would be too much. Suppose that's not a bad thing if Rangers are stuck paying a huge chunk of money to him and can't spend elsewhere.

Reeks of "no ambition" by McGregor too.

Staggeringly good news.

Same player.....nothing has changed.

Rangers down 12k a week,

Superb.

Sounds very similar to what we did with Craig Gordon not long before we sold him.

I hope this means there's a q of existing players and potential targets lined up with their hands out asking for similar pay packets!

Great keeper, proven himself at the highest levels revently. Internationally and in the CL.

Rightfully the current Scotland number 1 too.

Seems a good bit of business by Rangers, they could command 6 to 10 million for him now.

Nonsense ! Correct me if I'm wrong but during their good European run he was on the bench! How many games has he played for Scotland?

With any luck every half decent player they go after now will be after the same amount.

I don't think I'm either. He's a good keeper. Never worth the wages they're paying him and not worth the kind of transfer fee you're mentioning.

As for proven internationally, he's cost Scotland goals in at least 3 of his 12 caps.

What planet you on?

He played every CL game last season.

2 clean sheets against Bursaspor and Man U.

In 3 other games he only conceded the 1 goal, 2 of which were a Maurice Edu own goal and a Rooney Penalty.

He was outstanding last season. At the highest levels, playing for a far weaker team than the opponents.

The jersey he wears won't stop me being honest. The guy is a very very good keeper.

its a shame the maroon tinted glasses on here stop many people being honest, or even accepting any talk of some other players being decent.

I also think he is a good keeper - not sure about Scotland's number 1 though.

However it is frankly ridiculous NOT to be grown up enough to admit he is a good keeper.

McGregor is an excellent keeper, just behind Craig Gordon now IMO.

This however, smacks of Rangers offering him this with the promise to sell him for an agreed fee in his contract.

I'd be disappointed if he didn't try his luck down south at some point though, as he's good enough to play in the top flight in the EPL.

People who say McGregor is pish etc clearly don't know about football, or are tainted by the fact he plays for 'Them'.

He's been excellent for 3/4 years now, so this makes good sense from Rangers/McGregors point of view. I think he'll play till Jan, then be sold if I'm honest.

Word.

I did say rightfully the "current" number 1.

A fit, regularlly playing Gordon is better. But over the last season or two, Magregor deserves it IMO.

The thing is, he is a decent keeper (although he does make a number of quite bad mistakes, and he isn't as good as the Glasgow papers think), but by signing him for so long, and on a relatively high wage, Rangers may have priced him out of the market. You would have to be pretty convinced that he was better than you could get elsewhere to be willing to pay whatever it takes to get him out of a 6-year deal, and I don't think that, by Premiership standards, he's anything special.

Decent keeper for the level he plays at ie SPL.

Being Scotland keeper isn't exactly a badge of honour these days.

(These are my honest opinions, so glad I could share them.)

Overrated bellend, 26k a week is a total bump.

There were stories floating about that Whittaker was going to be offered 23k.

Thats more crazy if true..... He would never sell for what Magregor could.

Prob rubbish, but after throwing around 26k, who knows.

Surprised not as many people think they are just doing this with the intention to sell him at an inflated price int he next 12-18 months. To be honest if we could pay Gordon 18k reported breifly with the intention to sell then 26k for Rangers with intention to sell seems logical cos they can now demand a huge transfer fee.
