Yes he probably would. He joins the first team training on Monday so will hopefully get involved in games coming up

Football First or JiG better qualified to answer but the four or five times I saw Denis last season, he looked good enough to warrant a place on the bench at least. His free kicks are deadly - may be wrong but I think he finished top scorer with the U-19's and I'm pretty sure it was from free kicks he scored most of them!

I think we will ease him into the team along with Holt, might see them in pre-season games, maybe cup ties and sub appearances. Throwing a young guy in at the deep end can work, other teams in the SPL have been doing it and there's quite a few that have really impressed, but we've got the resources that means we don't need to do that and we can shield them for longer.

I think he will cope admirably with his first KB thread berating him for not being Platini.

So much for being a freekick specialist. :muggy:

Johanes de Silentio

With Taouil, Stevo, and (hopefully) Rudi vying for the advanced midfield position, we need somebody to do the holding thing - at the moment that would seem to be between Eggert, Mrowiec, Black, (if he stays) and hopefully big Denys. (I think he's more of a holding player than a number 10)

I'd love to see Denys playing there, but I expect he'll be eased in gradually.

I'd like to find out. Let's play the lad. :)

Considering on the whole our midfielders last season were gash there is no harm in trying.

PS - Big H. Despite our midfielders not being up to much, we didn't miss Stewart as much as you predicted. I suppose what I'm saying is that we have to start giving these laddies a chance because for our budget, the fairly highly paid experienced players aren't making that much of a difference. - Apart from Rudi's goals, that is.

Yeah, he gets a lot of power in them with a side-foot strike, the same way Drogba takes a freekick. I've seen a few of them in the U19s highlights and they look unstoppable.

They are quite something. I first seen them last summer & the way he's worked on & developed the technique is fantastic

I know that even in the latter stages of his rehab, he has been practising them

I agree Dave but at the end of the day it's better the masses knew he is a defensive midfielder... Not a goal scorer, let's judge him on that not his goal scoring ability.

Your opening gambit answers the question, Detty. Whilst we had a good season last year, we certainly lacked a player in central midfield who could pass the ball. Just look at any thread about transfer targets, we need a central midfielder, I know it, you know it, the rest of the fans know it and Jefferies knows it. On the other hand, if we were to decide that Holt/Prychynenko was that player, I would have absolutely no problem with that. I suspect Jefferies will look to buy a central midfielder though.

Meant to add...... I want him to be great I from what I hear he should be. Let's judge him on his position not his two free kicks every game.

He did indeed finish top scorer of Hearts under 19s with 14 goals. The majority were free-kicks, I think its 9 goals from free kicks, 4 from penalties and 1 from normal play. I would caution people that when he plays not to think that every free-kick will go in. I think the ratio in under 19s was 1 in 3 or 4 went in, though that is a very impressive which is better then many players, it will be a step up in the first team as your against better goalkeepers who can organise a wall better with more pressure. Though I am sure Denis will make the step up it may be a learning curve when he starts so dont expect wonders from him immediately.

He is a top talent, JJ has recognised that and has often spoken of his disappointment at not being able to play him at the end of the season and take him to Italy due to injury and recovery. He has ability to be decent holding midfielder and crucially the attitude to be one and his drive to improve any faults after training is something that is good for him.

He has everything in his locker to be HMFC's next ?mil player. Just wait until you see his physic, stature and ability. Its hard to explain until you see him but he just looks like a baller.

Freekicks...........oofffft think about a mixture of Didier Drogba and Cristiano Ronaldo. Not sayin he is going to score everyone he hits but jeez he going to put the frighteners up a few SPL goalies.

I just hope he's not the next Copil/Kostadinov.

I know what you mean, but there is a crucial difference between him and the other two. Mentality. Copil did have the ability but no application and when it got tough just gave up. Branny was similar but dont think the senior coaches saw the ability and application to make it for the senior team. Denis is completely different. The stories about him at Hearts warms your Heart (ignore the pun.) Here is a section from an interview FF did with Darren Murray (under 19 coach) for the Hearts Youth Development Committee website hydc.co.uk (if you want to know about the academy it is the best place to go, enough plugging :whistling: )

FF: Who has exceeded your expectations this season?

DM: I think it?s got to be Denis (Prychynenko). If there?s a laddie you would love to make it, and I believe he has a massive chance actually, it?s Denis. The amount of work he puts in it is quite phenomenal. At every opportunity, he will be in the indoor astro. He would be in there all night. You have to actually physically pull him because he does so much on his own and un-coached practice for young players is one of the most important things. As much as I have a difficult but important job when I take them into squad training, it?s individual training and un-coached practice where players go away and work on something specific like their weaker foot, or their heading, or shooting, or whatever, that time on their own working on their weaknesses gives them the best grounding. That lad has got everyone at Hearts and all the young lads doing it through his attitude and a bit of peer pressure.

Dennis he has now hit 7 free kicks right into the top corner, near enough every one. If he gets it on target it?s a goal. It?s the way he hits them and it?s been practised for over a year. He?s one of the most improved players I?ve seen. When he first came, Anatoly Korobochka brought him over actually and we weren?t sure and I said we will take a wee chance on him because he is a good lad. He has a really good attitude and he has just gone from strength to strength.

If you ever read about coaches talking about what it takes to be a professional footballer they will say it comes to the application and determination to be one. They will tell you stories of incrediable players in youth teams who had such technique and skill yet no drive or determination to do all the hard work to be able to reach that next level. Now dont get me wrong, it may still not work out for him and he may not be able to make that step up, but he has the key attribute to be able to make the at step up, something it seemed Copil and Branny lacked.

ROMANOV FAN CLUB

I can't wait to see Denis playing at Tynie but think this season is very much about him getting game time, in 20 mins here and there and possibly a bit more against the bottom sides

Don't think any fans should be expecting a player who walks into the first team, but one who shows some moments of potential

But have to say of the freekicks I have seen, he reminds me of a young Alberts at freekicks, power and acuracy

Think if we see a couple of freekick goals against bottom sides and some classy touches that would be a good season for him.

But we have been spoiled a bit in recent years from the talent we are producing

Creepy Lurker

A good way around this particular dilemma would be to give him a pair of armbands, that's what I always think when I see someone posing the old 'sink or swim?' question.

I suggested this to the last person that I heard saying it, who, as it happens, was my auntie Beatrice. She seemed pretty impressed. I mean, she didn't say that she was impressed - what she said was 'if you don't put some trousers on, I'm going to call the police' - but we all know what women are like, right lads? They talk in riddles. I think that she was impressed.

no, not until he is. Even the people who constantly watch the under 19`s don`t know either or JJ. Many players who look the part at a lower level sometimes don`t make the jump, some do of course.

But it`s all about bringing what good attributes you have that the management like and base your chance on, and trying to impose them at the highest level

I've never seen either of them but from what I've heard I would like to see Denis and Holt on the bench for the Rangers game. Not sure I would put them in a Euro fixture just yet.

Really hope these two and one or two others like Ogleby push for regular places this season.

Thunderstruck

He was on the bench a few games from the end of last season so I have only seen him in the warm-ups and half time knock about. What stood out was the amount of controlled power he got into practice shots. There didn't seem to be a lot of back-lift but the ball seemed to zip along.. His colleagues knew what he could do and all stopped to watch and applaud.

Novikovas is another who has similarly impressive power and control although he has yet to make a real mark in first team. Prychynenko - will he be a regular? I hope so and I hope he is given the opportunity by the management and, more importantly, given the time to prove himself by the fans.

wouldnt say specialist but he certainly good at taking them and i am sure he will get better and more confident as tyhe season progresses, better than many out there and if he keeps putting the hours of practice in tht he has been, at the accademy hours after training finishes practicing his free kicks then i am sure he will put a good few in the back of any keepers net. Think should give him a chance to play a few first team games before you sit and judge him.

Na, I couldn't agree more.

People are far too quick to judge and they put a lot of pressure on any youngster coming through. The lads breaking into the first team like Prychynenko, Holt and Robinson look very promising, but the fans get a little carried away when they see a home-grown player coming through and sometimes our expectations can harm a player's development.

Like what you say. Sounds a bit like David Beckham, not saying he will play like him but the application sounds the same. Too many British players just want to let it all happen without making the effort. A player that works on their game trully deserves to make it big. Let's all hope Denis is one whose effort is rewarded.

yup, compare that wee story to Rat-boy's "I just want to play somewhere where I can go oot on the lash", and you have a great example of the gulf in attitude between Germans and Scots when it comes to football.
