Frankenstein Jambo.

Eddie Mearns ended up at Bonnyrigg via Dundee and Berwick

Ryan Wallace was recently dumped by Airdrie

Alan "Flasher" Lithgow is still at Clyde

I know him. Gid lad but was to interested in socialising than getting into the first team.

Always thought he had the potential to be a fantastic player.

Kevin Queen, John Paul Burns, Mark Bradley, David Murie, Stuart Callaghan, Grant Teirney, Scott Strang and Robbie Horn.

Was he not meant to be the next big thing with all the premiership clubs after him?

Ryan Wallace was a more recent one, released by hearts and got injured with ardrie and released, thought he was going to hit the big time.

Sacked by Airdrie for brawling in public with a team mate whose girlfriend he'd been making sweet love to is what I was told!

Tried to find him everywhere but no joy. Who was the poor lad in the headscarf who got ripped by McFadden in his only start, the 6-1 defeat to Motherwell in 2002?

Wilfred Oueifio?

David Dunn and John Knox also played their only game for Hearts that day. Looking at London Hearts, Oueifio was subbed after only 39 minutes and never played again.

Different Colin Walker  The one I'm thinking of played in the BP Youth Cup Winning Team in 1994 I think he was from Bonnyrigg

Rosewell, I rememberplaying against him when he played for Sherwood as a kid

Possibly the worst 39 of football I have ever witnessed and that includes watching Archie White (one for the older fans there) and Callum Elliot. I think big Rousset was responsible for Oueifio jeez

Matt Doherty's girlfriend or fiance is from Edinburgh so probably why he came back?

Kevin Queen went to Celtic after he left Hearts then ended up at the likes of Clyde & Albion Rovers in the 3rd division.

Ian Harty played for about half the clubs in the SFL after leaving Hearts, still scoring goals for Annan Athletic.

Can't believe Robbie Horn is old enough to be a player/manager. Where did my life go?

Stephen Simmons and Kevin Thomas stand out for me in recent times. Eric Carruthers if you go further back. All made the first team but did not kick on. To be fair Thomas picked up a terrible injury after looking a ready made replacement for the outstanding Sandy Clark. How Simmons is in the first Division after persuading such a hard task master as Levein that he was a potential Scotland Captain is truly bewildering. Carruthers probably flattered.

On an unrelated matter, Carruthers was at my work last year working for a contract plumbing company. Seemed a bit embarrassed. Remembered him as a total flash git!

StrikersInstinct

Haraldur Bj?rnsson plays now for Valur Reykjavik although he was on loan last season. He is the main goalkeeper for Icelands U-21 and will compete in the Championship finals in Denmark this summer. However many consider him to be the main liablity in the team as he has struggled with his weight.

Hjalmar Thorarinsson has established himself as a decent striker in the Icelandic Premiership with Fram, scoring 24 goals in 74 appearences. He graduated as a pharmasist last year.

There are news reports on Hearts 3 x Youth Cup wins (1993, 1998, 2000) on the HYDC website. Check it out for some familiar and some unfamiliar names. http://www.hydc.co.uk/youth_finals_match_reports.html

Also have a look at Paul Cooper's reflections on the 1991 Milk Cup final defeat against Man Utd (they had few decent prospects in that side) http://www.hydc.co.uk/milk_cup_1991.html

There is also a report on the 2004 Milk Cup win together with a youtube video of the final featuring youngsters like Andy Driver, Calum Elliot and Denis McLaughlin. http://www.hydc.co.uk/milk_cup_2004.html (the video is worth watching for Denis' goal at the start of the 2nd half)
