Thought Ruben was terrific today. Hopefully he's settling back in to midfield. He tackled, harried and won a lot in the air. And he never wasted a ball all game. Keep it up, Ruben!

I thought him and Wallace getting out that sticky situation in the corner was different class.

Ruben is one of the more skilful players at Hearts at present. Form is temporary class is permanent as they say.

Ruben is a very neat footballer. Doesn't do anything flashy but has a great touch and is not scared of receiving the ball. Allows other people to play. This should compliment Wallace and Driver very well when they are both back on the left.

Was our top man by a country mile today. Was very surprised when he didn't start on Wednesday against Celtic, we could have done with a bit calming influence and ball retention in the middle of the park, but hey ho and all that.

I would like to congratulate Ruben today for perhaps his best game as a Jambo. Its fitting that after such a terrific performance he wins a MOM award on his 102nd appearance for the Club. I know what the Club means to the man and the supporters and it means a lot to him to get such positive feedback from the fans. Onwards and upwards Mr Palazuelos.

Totally agree.... I have been a major critic of Ruben but today he was brilliant especially in the first half . The main thing was his movement, he looked 100% fitter and more comitted than in re

cent games wherever he was playing , maybe there is a player there after all!

Man of the match for me today. The guys behind me at Tynceastle have been a bit quieter this season having spent most of the last, and the start of this, slating Ruben. :whistling:

Frankenstein Jambo.

Ruben has been absoloutly outstanding this season and my most improved player. While no lee wallace, he stepped into the left-back position and performed excellent considering he was out of his comfort zone. Now he is back in his more natural position he seems to have taken the confidence he got at left-back and exelled. He seems a far more accomplished player.

What I think is also helping him is having a quality player like rudi playing beside him. He can concentrate on the best parts of his game which is harrasing players, tackling, winning the ball back and making simple but effective passes because he knows he has a player like rudi who can make the more complicated attacking passes.

Well done Ruben. Get him tied up on a longer contract as I think he is an essential player in our squad.

Please get rid of at end of season, whilst agreed he was mom today - it was St.Johnston FFS! He did a job at left back but useless in midfield. As good as he was today he was terrible against rangers last week. I cannot see the love in for a very ordinary player who has many more bad games than good.

IMO just the type of player that sometimes does not stand out or is appreciated by everyone but he does a job that all the other players rely on

His spell at left back has helped. He has learned how to tackle

He has always been able to tackle :geek:

Some people have the memory of a goldfish...........he was in the running for player of the year the season before last. But he did that without being able to tackle?

Superb today, night and today compared to last sat...........him and Black controlled it. I would keep the two of them in the middle against current buns. I cant remember the two of them in the middle too many times before but they were quality today.

I thought Ruben was top notch today. I think his stint at left back done him alot of good in terms of distribution and the fact that he can get forward and make a different. He started doing it alot more towards the end of his left back stint and maybe that has given him the confidence in his own ability to do this from midfield.

Thought today he was getting in great positions and making some cracking passes. He gets alot of criticism for not getting forward enough but he certainly did today. He also looks a yard faster and gives us a bit more steel in midfield as he is reasonably big and wins alot of headers.

Maybe worth a few quid at 40/1 for first goalscorer in the coming weeks if we play similar team :D

Well played Ruben.

Get him signed up Vlad!!! Bouzid and Stevenson too!

A neat and tidy player but not convinced we can get away with him and Adrian in the same midfield as it leaves us short going forward. Will be interesting to see how JJ lines up his midfield for Ibrox as they over ran us for a good hour last Saturday.

Thunderstruck

There was a lot more dynamism in the team today. A higher tempo than off late. Suso and Craig T were a part of this but Ruben was the most significant factor.

He never wasted a ball all day and when he wasn't on the ball he was chasing, closing down or offering an option to his colleagues. He is quick, strong and reads the game well.

He and Mroviec play a similar game but I see Ruben as being slightly more constructive. That is not a criticism of Mroviec and there will be games when he is the better option.

Hearts of Vladland

He played a ball out to Wallace in the first half for someone to say 'FFS Ruben' Lee got onto the end of it. :pleasing:

Ruben wants to play football by keeping it on the ground if we want to get anywhere without Kyle we need Ruben, he will feed the wingers instead of the opposing teams keeper.

And will some-one explain to me why, after 10 games unbeaten we drop him, we get humped, he comes back and we win.

He's had a cracking season, but I'm confused as to why he was left out against the 'Tic

MOTM by a country mile as previously mentioned.

Personally I thought he'd done more than ok at LB during his stint there and I wonder if that run has maybe boosted his confidence whilst at the same time giving him a bit more insight into the reading of a game ?

I'm not Ruben's biggest fan, but thought that he played very well yesterday. If he can keep up this kind of form I'll be delighted to be proven wrong about him, although I do still have my doubts.

Ruben, Mrowiac, Black and Jonsson. Perm any 2 from 4. My own choice for starters would be Mrowiac as the sitter playing behind Ruben with Black and Jonsson on the bench. Defensive midfield is one area that Hearts are well covered for.

Ruben played well yesterday but then again it was only St J.

Ruben was superb yesterday and MOTM for me. Intelligent display and didn't give the ball away once. His possession play down in the corner in the 2nd half (in front of the st j fans) when he had 2 st j players round him was different class.

Agreed, that has to be taken into consideration, as nobody in their ranks appeared to prevent him from roaming free

.........or if they DID try, then his performance was even better than I thought :woot:

Players who rarely waste posession and are comfortable on the ball don't seem to be valued highly in Scotland for some reason. Perhaps some random hoofing of the ball (Into the stand) might prove his doubters wrong?

He's a steady player, he's rarely spectacular and yet rarely awful. He's important to the side and has fitted in well at HMFC and never hides. The guy spent alot of his own money to sign for the famous and has been a fine player during some awful seasons.

Top player and guy IMO.

Very good stand in when Wallace was out and now coming on to a game in the midfield.

APologies if someone has already posted this I havent read the thread, but Im sure that his time at left back has shown him the need to get stuck in and has allowed him in a sense to hone his tackling skills and also to know what is required to cover the full back role if Lee is caught forward. Ive always liked Ruben and hope he can play well and keep his place.

Bye Bye Ruben at the end of the season unless Lee is transferred in the next couple of days.

Grumpy.
