Watched it last night again, and never get tired of it,

Great acting from Ewan McGregor and Carlyle.

Shame about the hobo posters in Marks bedroom.

Your thoughts guys.

Meh.

Was good at the time but now seems rather dated.

Also felt, at the time, that the film was only one interpretation or aspect of the book. You could've made three or four films from the book. IMO.

Welsh is a scrotum as well.

Was showing at the filmhouse last week....meant to go along but completely forgot.

Love it. The soundtrack, the screenplay, the acting, the art direction and obviously the direction itself. The whole production was brilliant.

I'd still love to see them make 'Porno', even though it will probably be balls!

Great film, except for the montage scene of random bits of London set to a euro-cheese soundtrack. What the hell were they thinking with that bit?

Only film I like Ewan McGregor in. Trainspotting apart he's got this nippy bullish*t Scottish accent that I can't stand. I can't watch him in the Star Wars films he makes me cringe.

Trainspotting is a great book and movie though.

Me too, apparently the reason it hasn't been done is because McGregor fell out with director Danny Boyle, when Boyle overlooked him in favour of Leo DiCaprio in another film.

That'll be The Beach. McGregor would've been sh*t in it, too old.

I believe it's a great film, but I'll never watch it.

I know this makes me sound a real weirdo, but I'd never watch any film/buy any book that would put any money in that Hibs supporting wanna-be casuals pocket.

I can't stand him.

It's weird, don't know if it was Porno or not, but I recognised most of the people he described in the book set mostly in Saughton Mains.

Sounds like Glue. His best book IMO, set over 20 odd years. Juice Terry is a great character. "Spice ay life!"

Welsh does come across as an utter Tommy Tank mind.

He stayed in the next stair to me in Muirhouse Ave when we were kids. He is a few years older than me and was shit at fitba' and fighting, that's why he writes about it all the time.

A guy I know, he's a Jambo, had an argument about how he portrayed Muirhouse and Pilton and then pished off when he made his money but the people still had to try and find jobs who lived there. Welshie told him to do one and John punched him, knocking him down the stairs of the VIP area at the Assembly Rooms,it's not just nobodies I know, you know. Mind you he also done it to Gerry Sadowitz too, for picking on a midget in the same place.

I agree with this - I also hate the fantasy bit with Dale Winton in it.

Really liked the book but thought the film could have been better.

It is very different to the book. I like both actually but also agree that Welsh is a Scrotum.

Read a few of his books and would like to see Porno made into a film if Boyle and MacGregor can ever sort out their differences.

Fair play to the guy. he brought that kind of impressionist art to literature. Say/paint what you see. It was the first time I read a book in slang and I could identify with the characters. Danny Boyle did a great job bringing it to film but its not up there with the great films. Its had its time but........I adopt the romantic view of Sir Walter as by Jambo affiliation to such movies as Rob Roy and Braveheart.......... :smiliz64:

Rob Roy is a great book, one of my favourites after waverley. Interesting to though that the film and the book are completely unrelated in this case too.

Film wasn't too bad... the bit where he grabs Roth's sword and then cleaves him is a good "YAS" moment.

Yes, that'll be right enough, scary though affinity I had with the people in that book. Irving Welsh does come over as a welt, writing to my perception in the third person, but where did his sources come from ?

Not seen it for a while but didn't Mark "Rentboy" have a Hearts duvet cover (as well as that dodgy hobo poster) in the film? Seem to remember spotting that.

I agree would love to see them make a film of 'porno'! I absolutely loved Trainspotting even now.

I've read all Irvine Welsh books and loved them all he's got such a weird and sick mind it's not true.

porno is a tremendous read. if you've only read trainspotting then you must read porno.

I agree!

I saw Ewan Bremner(spud) crossing the road in front of my car at the top of

Leith walk a few weeks ago, seemingly he's got a flat round about there!

was a film that captured the feel and mood of the times brilliantly but starting to show it's age, still think Shallow Grave was better

No Hearts duvet cover. There's a Hibs badge on the headboard though.
