Grafted. Mrowiec - 9 - Best I've seen him play. He was everywhere. MOTM Palazuelos - 7 - Brought the ball out the box well. Templeton - 6 - Quiet, fared better when moving to the right. Black - 8 - Good game and impressively kept the head. Good effort Kyle - 8 - Great goal and a handful. Hearts need to look at how he can reduce the fouls awarded against him in the air. He was guilty of alot of pushing. Elliot - 6 - When he applies the pressure he fares well. Got better. Skacel - 8 - Rudi played well and won alot of important tackles. Subs Novikovas - 7 - Canny argue with that short but sweet performance. Glen - 5 - Maybe needs the games Stevenson - 5 - No time Referee - Should have asked Murray to leave the field. If he hadn't kept cool and placed a great pass inside to Rudi who "contributed" to the goal by playing a perfect simple pass to Novi. He's always looking to play a pass rather then hoof it. If he does play a long ball, it's almost always either right to a Hearts player or puts the defender under pressure. MacDonald - 6 - Didn't inspire confidence early on and I'm thankful that Hibs didn't really put him under pressure. Zaliukas - 9 - Immense and inspirational player and captain. Bouzid - 8- Commanding Jonsson - 7 - Wasn't a great performance but how many times can you remember Riordan getting past him or contributing from that wing? Mrowiec - 9- Quite simply outstanding Palazuelos - 8 - Major contribution to the winner and had a good game all round Templeton - 6- Not his day but never gave up! Black - 9 - Brilliant!!! Kyle - 9 - Outstanding the whole game, and that goal. . . . !!! Elliot - 6 - Not his day really, but 10 out of 10 for effort Skacel - 9 - Looked a potential match winner and contibuted to that goal! Subs Novikovas - 10- Only on for a short time but his contribution was maych winning. MotM Glen - 5 - Could have, should have scored but he got on the end of the cross. Lack of match fitness!!! MacDonald - 6 - Nervous and it showed. Luckily didn't have much to do Jonsson - 5 - Deficiencies as a foraging RB clear to see. Craig Thomson offers more in this role Bouzid - 7 - Decent game Zaliukas 8 - Commanding Palazuelos - 8 - Broke up their play well. Kept possession Mrowiec - 7 - Tremendous engine. Point off for reckless challenges though. Templeton - 5 - Couple of good crosses but credit to Thicko - he was their best player along with Brown Black - 8 - Dictated the play despite some shocking challenges Skacel - 8 - Very gorallyod from long range and got stuck in gene Kyle - 9 - MoM. His control was very good today and what a goal Elliot - 4 - One good effort but a serious liability. His anticipation is not good enough Subs Novikovas - 8 - Two great flashes of genius. If he'd been on any longer would have been MoM. Great to see some pressure taken off Temps by this performance Glen - 5 - Bad miss but at least he got there. Mrowiec - 8 - I like him, gets across the park Palazuelos - 7 - Not a full back, but more of an attacking threat Templeton - 5 - I wondered if he was playing at times. But everybody is allowed an off day and he has been our best player this season. Black - 9 - Superb and his discipline has improved a 1000% Kyle - 10 - Best Centre Forward since Sandy Clark. Love him. Elliot - 6 - His best chance was well saved by Brown. Skacel - 7 - Thought he played well, especially second half. Subs Novikovas - 8 - I keep saying he is to lightweight but he keeps surprising me. If not for him this game would have been a draw. Bouzid - 7 - No problems Jonsson - 7 - Good defencive performance, won nearly every tackle. Mrowiec - 9 - Just amazing player. Palazuelos - 5 - Where was he when Nish nearly scored - trotting back Templeton - 6 - Tiqott or whatever his name is did a good job on Temps, but did better when he changed sides Black - 9 - Never gave up, win lots of ball Kyle - 9 - The winner against Hibs, that'll do for me big man. Elliot - 7 - Worked hard Skacel - 7 - His ball control is great, Novikovas - 8 - two brilliant crosses, and a few good runs - a real match winner. Team performance - 10, a real team effort. Few decent crosses into the box. Dealt well with Riordan. Palazuelos - 7. Improved his attacking play. Always looking to keep possession and was comfortable for most of the game. Zaliukas - 8. Strolled through the game. Dealt with everything thrown at him. Bouzid - 7. Solid. Mrowiec - 8. So important to the way we play. Some crunching tackles today, good range of passing also. Black - 9. Excellent. Worked hard all the time. Took a nasty knock from Murray but coped extremely well afterwards. Elliot - 5. Right wing is definitely not his position. Nothing came off for him today, clear lack of pace. Templeton - 5. Thicot dealt very well with him. Had no luck with the ball at his feet. Skacel - 6. Needs to look for the pass more. Was quiet in first half but got into the game more in the second. Kyle - 8. Won everything in the air, just a shame nobody was getting on the end of his flick ons. Great header for the winner. Subs: Novikovas - 8. For those two crosses alone. Glen - 3. Should have scored. Looked to feed off Kyle's knock downs. Stevenson - 1. No time. Seems to lack confidence going forward. 6 Bouzid - Commanding in the air. Bit too eager to hit it long though. 7 Zaliukas - Starts moves. Gets us playing football. Strolled it. 8 Palazuelos - Stuck to his task well, has become a reliable left back, bar some positional errors. 7 Mriowec - Omnipresent when hibs had the ball. A rock. 8 Black - Read the game superbly. Kept possession better than anyone else on the park. Didn't retaliate to some rough treatment. 9 Skacel - Oozes class. You just wish he'd get on the ball more often. Threat all day though. 7 Elliot - Seems to wear led in his boots. A yard off the pace physically and crucially, a yard of the pace mentally. 5 Templeton - Was perhaps due a poor game. Mitigating circumstances as he took a nasty challenge first half. Seemed almost disgusted with himself too when things didn't come off, which further deteriorated his performance. 5 Kyle - MOM. Won everything in the air, found a Hearts player more often than not. Like Skacel he encourages the younger players. Vital. 9 Subs Novikovas - A talent to rival Templeton by all accounts. Showed why with excellent delivery. Should start in place of Elliot if Elliott isn't fit. 7 Glen - Makes the right runs, but lacking confidence. Needs game time, but when? 4 Stevenson - No time. Immense, did well not to react to the treatment he was receiving. Temps- 6 One of those days, probably should've switched to the right earlier. Skacel-6 Didn't seem to get going at all. Elliot-6 Seemed lost at times. Kyle- 8 Great header. Great signing. Subs: Novikovas-8 Changed the game. Great crossing which should've meant 2 goals instead of one. Glen- 5 Should've scored but he's not had much game time. Stevenson- Can't really give him a rating. Kyle 9 Great goal and i don't think he lost more than 2 headers he went for, best game from him and good to see him score from open play. Novikovas 8 2 runs = 2 great deliveries, should have equalled 2 goals. Great matchwinning cameo. Glen 4 How the f did he miss? Stevenson 2 No time. Jonsson - 7 - Constantly looked to get into, and found, space on the right. Dealt with most down his side. Zaliukas - 6 - Won his fair share of headers, but had a few scary moments, which included letting the ball bounce at the edge of his own 6 yard box. Not as good as he has been. Bouzid - 6 - Hard in the tackle but wasn't the best on the ball. Palazuelos - 7 - Coped well and won headers. Templeton - 5 - Owned by Thicot. The two times he did get change out of him, he tried to do far too much and lost possession meekly. Perhaps should've been taken off before he was, and it seemed like keeping him on was doing more harm than good for a while. In his defence, he was constantly hounded by two bigger, stronger players. I liked the fact he looked angry at himself when being taken off, though. Black - 9 - Superb. Thought he was going off early after Murray's beheading attempt, but got up and played an absolute blinder. Excellent in the tackle, intelligent with the ball and had a massive calming effect in the midfield. More of the same please. MOTM. Mrowiec - 7 - Complimented Black well, but was outshone by his colleague. Skacel - 5 - Tried the Hollywood instead of the sensible on far too many occasions, especially in the first half. Wasn't very influential but did play a few nice through balls out wide, with one sublime one into (I think) Novikovas. Maybe tried a little too hard, but at the wrong things. Elliot - 5 - This guy doesn't have it. I'm sorry, but he doesn't. Cannot fault his effort, but he was constantly half a pace off the play and has absolutely no striker's intuition. Kyle - 9 - Terrified Hibs with his power and height. Got the rough treatment but always looked for the ball and he fully deserved to score the winner. Outstanding, big man. Subs: Novikovas - 6 - Thought we had seen the return of the rabbit caught in headlights, but a great piece of skill and ball across set up our winner. Well done. Jonsson 6 kept tight to Ratboy and got forward when he could. Zaliukas 8 great authority and composure. Bouzid 7 doesn`t feck about. Makes tackles and is fully committed. Palazuelos 7 caught sleeping at Nish chance but has adapted superbly to LB over time. .......... Black 9 what a leader this guy is turning out to be. Hard in tackle and uses body well in tight scenarios. Great passing and vision Mrowiec 8. forming a great partnership with Black. Rudi 7 probes, works hard and always brings his game to the table. --------- Temps 5 marked tightly but will be ready to bounce back after a couple of quiet games. Kyle 9 immense. At one point in the second half, the long ball tactics reminded me of Levin when he managed Hearts. Respect is due for the fact the boys kept going but that was not a good day in the office, even though it was a good three points to add to the campaign. MacDonald - 6 - You need to be rock steady from the get go, he wasn't. I think that affected us. Zaliukas - 8 - The General. Bouzid - 6 - No complaints and keen to get forward. Jonsson - 5 - Strange. Little came from him today and he looked beat by his opposite number. Mrowiec - 8 - Man of the match simply because he did his duty. No hoof ball and no mistakes. Palazuelos - 6.5 - I thought he did very well, and had a hell of a task today. Hibs threw a lot down his flank. Templeton - 5 - Man marked, and taken out of the game. Our next opponents will be watching how they did it. Black - 8 - Did very well to recover from Dutch style thuggery. Kyle - 8 - Knew what he was doing. Risked a yellow in the first, but cooled it. Elliot - 4 - Thought he was poor. Bad decision making and lacking genuine skill Skacel - 7 - Didn't rise to the challenge of off the ball agro and his excellent first touch created chances. Subs Novikovas - 8 - Great skill, got his head up and played the cross that we had been waiting for. Glen - 2 - Hearts are too good to haver players like him in the team. We deserve better and its the transfer window. Stevenson - N/A - No time One last thought. Going back to JJ and the 1997-98 team, it wasn't till the new year that the key game changers came into their own. I'm thinking especially of Colin Cameron, who was good for the first half of that season, and simply immense in the second half. Cameron (as well as Fulton) got us to play football on the deck, and that's what elevated up our prospects. After the episodes of long ball today, I ask this: do we have a Colin Cameron this year? Deodato It's probably the one thing lacking in our team, No Cameron no Hartley - It may cause us problems when teams double up on our wingers - altho I commented in the shout box earlier that when had they try to mark our wingers out of the game it allows us freedom in the middle of the park.
