Johanes de Silentio
Hopefully fit for Saturday? I think I heard Elliott has a bug of some kind - hope he makes it. Kello's is a back problem, I think - hope he makes it too. Rudi's got a calf problem - really hope he makes it. Great to have Lee Wallace back in the squad - hopefully Driver & Suso will be back soon too. We're doing well, but we always have to be at our best - as ever, Saturday is MASSIVE! Be hard on the guys who have deputised but, we need our best players on the park.

jamboruss
Missed 2 T's energy, off the ball running and closing down BIG TIME last night, really hope he's fit. mahgrassyshoes
Agreed. Also think that Rudi's game would suffer dropping back a bit. Don;t think he has the workrate for centre mid and would be in a more crowded area of the park so might find difficult to get on the ball and make the passes and runs he does. If Driver is going to be put back into the team it will have to be at the expense of Elliott or Temps imo. We have a good balance to the team at the minute and there is no point shoe-horning players into the team and upsetting it.

I thought he looked back to his old self last night in all honesty. I'd be surprised to see him playing any more than a bit part for the rest of the season. Hope Elliott is back ASAP because he was badly missed along with Skacel. Thought Stevenson played well in the second half though.

I just wouldn't cut it tactically as a manager of a club. That's cool, it suits me. I don't have that aspiration. I said at the end of my post that it probably wouldn't work. We would not be the first team to play a diamond 442 formation so the suggestion is not a ridiculous one. We would obviously have to be very selective about when we used it. Play that against a 4-5-1 or the OF and we would struggle. Even then it puts a lot of strain on the full backs and wingers. If they and Rudi bought in to the defensive workload then that formation can work. Edit: The odds of Temps, Driver and Rudi all being fit at the same time are not that high. If you put Black in between Temps and Driver it would work.

The Merse
Elliott gives the most fight/effort of the three you mentioned. But the least ability. And the fight isn't needed in his position (well it is really) but not in the deeper position where we'd be left short if we were to play 5 attacking players. rossthejambo
Elliott gives the most fight/effort of the three you mentioned. You're right he does. But he offers least of the 3 in the attacking third IMO, which is key in the position that he would be playing. Kello Jonsson Bouzid Zal Wallace Adrian Temps Black Driver Rudi Kyle This would be my team using the Boomstick formation.
johnjl
Elliott gives the most fight/effort of the three you mentioned. I disagree driver gives at least equal fight and effort to Elliott and his commitment to playing when he's not fully fit has contributed to the injury problems he has had. The 2. 1 derby win at tynecastle last season fired him way up in my estimation. His determination and drive in that game, when not fully fit, was an example to all his team mates.
